Olympus X-840 Review – Hands On w/ Digital Camera

This is a hands on review of the low-cost Olympus X-480 digital camera, a fairly basic but ideal camera for general users.

I would say for someone who is a beginner, or you just want a good basic camera with a few features to explore, you could do a lot worse.

Olympus FE-310

The Olympus FE-310 is an entry level digital camera. It has 8 megapixels and a 5x optical zoom lens. Its main attractions are the fact it has a longer than standard zoom, its ease of use and its relatively low price tag.

Extra zoom on an entry level model - simple and easy to use

Slow shutter response is a problem - lower light focusing - focusing towards the edge of a photo

"Overall the FE-310 performs quite well for an entry level digital camera. There are one or two areas where it falls short, but this is to be expected from a cheaper camera. It scores well for ease of use and I also like the longer than standard zoom...

Don't DO IT

Don't get scammed, or maybe just don't throw away a cardboard box which makes / breaks a deal with newegg. now I am very unimpressed and will not use your services anymore. I doubt they will care about the loss of one customer. Good bye I now know why...

Thought it was good at first, and a good deal

I threw away the box so now I can't return it after the screen was broken from regular use, no shock, no impacts. Just broken and with no box I cannot return it ; Also the price was of course lowered after I purchased it, another non shocker

good buy

1 gig olympus xd card is something very small but the shipment is about 6 bucks.

very very good price for a 8 MP, 5x optic zoom camera. i bought eight recertified fe310 from newegg for my family and friends. The cameras are recertified but the box includings are ok and they are all work great ; 1920X1080 widescreen mode is great....

just the xd card i think. you have to buy a xd card for this camera. no support for sd or other popular card types

Recertification process flawed

I am not impressed with recertified products. I thought I would take a chance and now regret it. I'm sure the first camera was returned for the same reason I returned it. Testing does not catch things like excessive battery consumption. RMA process was...

Light weight, easy to use, good zoom, uses AA batteries

Had to return first one because it ate batteries to the tune of two AA batteries for about 40 pictures, replaced via RMA, but still not good on battery life, especially with flash. Replacement arrived with scratches on front, but seems to function fine

Great Deal

This was bought as a birthday gift for my college age sister, so she can use it to document her summer internship, and all of the weddings she'll be in/at this summer. She loves it, and it's light years beyond the '02 model Sony Cyber Shot it replaced....

For the price, I can't knock any eggs off. compact, decent sized screen, great zoom for such a compact camera, 8Mp, adequate settings for the novice. Great gift. Free Lowpro camera case

The only major con would be packaging, camera was in a single layer of bubble wrap, and tossed loose into the Olympus box, along with the accessories. I was concerned when I opened the box from Newegg, and everything in the Olympus box was rattling...
