Olympus Mju 9010 review

Olympus Mju 9010's compact design does not betray its optical zoom performance. That is precisely this mega zoom camera's spearhead. It is small and light enough to put in your pocket and it is equipped with a large focal range with which you can...

The Olympus Mju 9010 is in itself a pretty good camera. It is a camera with a large optical range with which you can photograph all-round in a relatively simple way, as the theory goes. Whoever is looking for a small format, lightweight camera, but...

Olympus Mju 9000 Digital camera review

The segment of mega zoom cameras with a compact size has always been dominated by Panasonic's TZ (Travel Zoom) series cameras. Strangely enough, Panasonic was able to carry on without interference for quite some time, whilst the competition seemed to...

Olympus throws in the Mju 9000 to try and seize the much-desired title of most popular Megazoom camera. This segment has been in the limelight for the last few years now, not in the last place because of the innovative advancements that Panasonic has...

Olympus Mju 9010 Review

Announced at CES 2010, the 14-megapixel, 10x zoom Olympus mju 9010 (also known as the Olympus Stylus 9010) is the new flagship of the mju / Stylus range. Boasting a 28-280mm equivalent zoom lens in a compact body, the range-topping Olympus mju 9010...

The Olympus mju 9010 has left us with a more favourable impression than its little sister the Olympus mju 7040, chiefly because of its better lens and more robust build. Although a longer zoom typically means more compromises in the optical department,...

Olympus Mju 9010 Review

Some digicams hit the shelves and at first appear to be run-of-the-mill compacts with little to offer. How blasé can you get!

Quality: about average. Why you would buy the Mju 9010: you want an HD video camera with follow focus; you need a 10x zoom. Why you wouldn't: you need more control over picture taking.

Olympus mju 9010

Olympus' long-zoom compact just got an upgrade

What does make a good impression is the mju 9010's appearance. The camera's body has been re-designed, transforming the rather ugly shape of the mju 9000 into a very handsome new style. The body is fractionally thicker at 31.1mm, but smaller in other...

Olympus Mju 9010 review

The Olympus Mju 9010's most attractive feature is its 10x wide angle lens (28mm-280mm). It boasts of built-in “DUAL IS” image stabilisation and a 14Mp CCD sensor with an aperture size ranging from f3.2 (W) - 5.9(T). Olympus's own TruePic III processor...

The classy looking Olympus Mju 9010 scores high in terms of features but it shoots just average quality images and videos. If you want long zoom and HD video in this price range, you can consider the Samsung WB550 which has a wider angle lens and more...

Olympus Mju 9010

This long-zoom compact digital camera has 10x optical zoom lens, 2GB of internal memory and more. How about the image quality?

10x optical zoom ; Good flash exposure ; Only a few noticeable purple fringes ; 2GB built-in memory ; USB Charging

Images lack good sharpness ; Loss in detail and noise level is high at ISO400 ; Poor focusing in low light ; Slow shot-to-shot time ; Sluggish interface ; Insufficient shortcuts for basic operations ; Acceptable HD video quality

The new compact digital camera, Olympus Mju 9010 has a healthy list of features that includes 10x optical zoom, 2GB built-in memory, 720p HD video recording and HDMI out. However, it has barely acceptable performance in terms of speed and image quality.

REVIEW—OLYMPUS mju9010]

This is a 14 megapixel camera with a 10X optical zoom, 28–280 mm film equivalent. Image stabilisation is by CCD shift. It is fundamentally a superior point and shoot camera. Construction quality is good and the appearance is attractive. We believe that...

The image quality is good with less obvious noise reduction effect than we find with most 14 megapixel compacts. The detail resolution of the Olympus is much better than that of our standard compact comparison camera. Exposure and white balance are...

The LCD is acceptable as a viewfinder but just barely adequate for reviewing captured images. Olympus make big claims for their HyperCrystal view LCDs which in our experience are not justified

This is a neat and well-priced camera capable of taking good pictures. We would recommend it more highly if the LCD were a better review device. As it is we like the image quality enough to excuse the screen.

Olympus mju 9010

Small in size, big on features

Compact by name, compact by nature – but the Olympus [mju:] 9010 is tardis-like in terms of the amount of features and image quality is largely very good
