Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX37

The digital camera hasn't escaped the consumer electronics industry's obsession with miniaturization. The first compact consumer digicams arrived in the mid 1990's and they've been getting smaller and slimmer ever since. As far back as 1999 companies...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX37

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX37 can record gorgeous HD video but also produces underwhelming still images.

Very compact. Records HD video (1,280 by 720 at 30 frames per second). Solid controls. Fast boot-up and recycle times.

Moderate amount of color fringing. Subpar sharpness for a 10-megapixel camera. Noticeable shutter lag. LCD shows considerable motion blur.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX37 Review

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX37 is a small and light compact camera aimed firmly at the point-and-shoot user. At first glance the FX37 is rather unassuming, with "only" 10 megapixels, a standard 2.5 inch LCD screen and understated styling, but there are...

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX37 is a small and stylish point-and-shoot compact which doesn't truly bring that much of note aside from the impressive 25mm-125mm 5x zoom lens to the party. The suspicion is that the FX37 is plugging a gap in the range...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX37 Review

CONCLUSION The Lumix FX35 was one of our favorite cameras of 2008, but revisiting the essentially unchanged Lumix FX37 nearly a year later, it's much harder to make the case that this is one of the best, most versatile cameras out there. That's not...

Chic, functional ultracompact design, Wide-angle lens still the widest out there (on an ultracompact), iA mode is point-and-shoot simplicity at its best, Rich, vibrant color reproduction

Pixel peepers will find noise intolerable, even at low ISOs, Stronger competition hurts the FX37's by-the-numbers performance, Premium price tag, AF inconsistencies remain

Panasonic DMC FX37

The Panasonic DMC FX37 is a pocket camera with a 5x optical zoom lens. The lens is wide angle. The DMC FX37 has a stylish, unfussy design and scores well for ease of use.

HD movies - ease of use

Picture quality

Picture quality does not hit the usual high standards I am used to seeing from a Panasonic digital camera. That is a shame as other features such as HD quality movies, a wide angle lens, plus ease of use are all positive points.
