Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX50 review

It's not just attractive, it's smartly designed. A highly legible menu system with the occasionally helpful descriptor (under Aerial Photo, it cautions Please turn off the camera when taking off or landing ) plus a large joystick control make it easy...

Optical image stabilization; large LCD; solid build quality.

Mediocre photo quality; some controls too small.

A decent camera, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX50 is held back by less-than-decent photo quality.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX50 Camera Review

The most noticeable feature on this compact camera is its 3-inch display on the back. This is a pretty big screen for a camera that only measures 3.9 inches wide and 2.2 inches tall. This helps a lot when trying to navigate through on-screen menus and...

The DMC-FX50 looks great with joystick controls and a large screen. The start-up time, shot-to-shot time, and the shutter lag are all up to par as well. The small buttons could get on your nerves, and if they don't the image noise might get to you. The...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX50

Retailing for around $330, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX50 is a relatively simple camera that has some distinguishable features like optical image stabilization on the 3.6x zoom lens, a bright 3-inch screen, and the ability to shoot widescreen movies. The...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX50 Digital Camera Review, O.I.S. optical image stabilization, image stabilisation, high sensivity mode

The Panasonic Lumix FX50 is an average digital camera with a few above average features and below average image quality. The camera itself has a 3.6x lens, optical image stabilization, and 3-inch LCD screen packaged in a bland design. Still, the chunk...

Panasonic today introduced the new Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX50 7.2 Megapixel, 28mm wide angle f/2.8 Leica DC lens with 3.6x optical zoom (equivalent to 28mm to 102mm on a 35mm film camera) camera, featuring an Intelligent Image Stabilizer by MEGA...

Panasonic Lumix FX50

The FX50 is another solid compact camera from Panasonic. Part of their new range, it appeared to be very similar to the FX07 which we looked at recent...

Great sharpness, Good colour performance, Nice continuous shot mode, Big screen

Lots of noise

While the FX50 did exhibit a lot of noise, it was extremely small and it performed well in all our other tests, so unless you're magnifying your shots to a great degree it may be a contender.

A decent camera, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX50 is held back by less-than-decent photo quality.

Optical image stabilisation ; Large LCD ; Solid build quality

Mediocre photo quality ; Some controls too small

If Panasonic could just nail the noise, the Lumix DMC-FX50 might stand a chance against competitors such as the Canon Digital IXUS 850 IS and the Sony Cyber Shot DSC-T30. As it is, however, you're better off letting the FX50 sit this one out.

Panasonic provide wide angle shooting in a compact body

This is a great little compact that offers wide angle shooting a good size LCD screen and plenty of user friendly options, though admittedly it is a little pricey.
