Panasonic Lumix FZ review: Panasonic Lumix FZ

Panasonic Lumix FZ

Optically stabilized 12X zoom lens; solid color accuracy and detail capture; top-notch continuous-shooting performance; flexible feature set for enthusiasts and beginners.

Low-res, silent movie capture; some image artifacts; lens blocks flash in macro shots; tends to overexpose highlights.

It's a solid megazoom digital camera, but you might be better off with its 5-megapixel sibling, the DMC-FZ5.

Higher than average image noise for a 4-megapixel camera, At maximum telephoto, lens produces soft corners, lower resolution, Chromatic aberration is on the high side, particularly at the telephoto end of the lens' range, LCD/EVF doesn't "gain up"...

The Panasonic FZ4 features both an eye-level electronic optical viewfinder (EVF) and a 1.5-inch LCD monitor on the back panel for image composition (114,000 pixels). The EVF is essentially a miniaturized version of the larger LCD monitor, complete with...

Not the world's best but a Best Buy

Lens, handling and speed. Quality of pictures, bargain price.Simplicity of controls & menus.

Small LCD fades in bright sunlight. Smallness makes some controls difficult to use.

Good but too many options

The best shooting mode for beginners is probably not the default "beginners" or "don't think" mode. It's probably rather an adaptation of the "Speed" priority mode even for beginners. (The S on the mode selector) This allow good indoor without always ...

Extremely good Optics and very good image quality, good battery life

Cumbersome User interface, complicated options. No external power option, still no "Webcam" emulation
