Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ8

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ8 is an 8-megapixel point-and-shoot camera, available for around $180, with some surprising features at the price, including image stabilization and a 5x zoom

The LZ8 isn't the smallest compact camera, weighing in at about five ounces and measuring 2.44 x 3.84 x 1.31 inches. The added size does make it easier to hold than some of the tiny point-and-shoots we've seen. We found the buttons and dials on the LZ8...

Panasonic DMC LZ8

The Panasonic DMC LZ8 is an 8 megapixel digital camera with a 5x optical zoom lens. It has manual exposure controls, but remains easy to use. It is able to produce movies for playback on widescreen televisions

Ease of use - wide screen movies

Shutter delay could be that little faster, especially with flash

"This camera has a specification that is a step up from more basic point and shot models. It includes manual exposure modes. Picture quality is not perfect, but the camera is available for quite a low price."

Good specs but will the Lumix DMC-LZ8 live up to them?

The Lumix DMC-LZ8 is a formidable camera with an impressive array of features for the relatively small price tag

Panasonic Lumix LZ8

It's often said that no one makes bad cars these days... well the same could be said of digital cameras. But how many of today's digital compacts are really great- How many of them manage to tick all the boxes at a price that's affordable-With the...

Plenty of handy features, Great value for money, Good image quality, Easy to use

Fairly modest styling

The Panasonic Lumix LZ8 will never rival an SLR for image quality, but as a second camera for your pocket or handbag, it's great. The 5x zoom, superb colours and spot-on metering make it a great travel companion

Great combination of features & quality

I was really looking for a P&S with better video and a small camera for street photography. LZ8 fits the bill perfectly. Initially I wanted to buy the Panasonic LX3. But after looking at the price difference and the feature set, I cannot justify...

Extremely high image quality at low ISO (almost as good as my 10MP DSLR). Complete set of exposure modes (program, scenes, apeture and shutter priority and manual) ; Video quality is a significant improvement over a Nikon L11 (6MP). Has both 4:3 and...

High ISO is only acceptable but not surprising given the small CCD size ; Light meter is not active in manual exposure mode ; Build quality appears to be good but the lens on my first copy failed in days

Slow!!

Not sure if is user error or poor design of camera.

Price, picture quality. lots of options and easy to use

Very slow between pictures, 7-8 seconds. Seems to have something to do with the flash recharge

Worth the money

Would I buy it again? "No" I would buy the top model of Lumix point and shoot. I had one before, but I left it outside in the snow/rain for 24 hours. Everything is working fine after dry out, except sound when taking video. That is why I pick this...

Cheap ; Slim ; 5X Optical Zoom ; fit well in hand

A bit slow (Auto) focus ; Cannot force flash (Auto/Off) ; slow start up ; 2 steps from Optical zoom to Digital zoom
