Samsung MV800

The Samsung MV800 compact camera has a fun flip-out screen that makes it easy to take self portraits, but it falls short in terms of image quality and low-light performance.

Flip-out LCD. Compact and light. Responsive touch screen. Numerous shooting modes.

Soft photos. Uses microSD memory. Poor low-light performance.

Performance and Conclusions Not a particularly speedy camera, the MV800 takes about 2.3 seconds to start up and grab a shot, requires you to wait a full 1.6 seconds between photos, and records a 0.4-second shutter lag. Its performance is on par with...

Samsung MV800 Review

Samsung continues to create some extremely fun to use cameras, and the MV800 is no exception. This stylish camera is loaded with fun to use settings, and the hinged LCD is sure to be a hit among the social crowds. We did find a few shortfalls with the...

Mostly metal body is both sleek and stylish ; Captures sharp 16-megapixel photos with pleasing color ; Nice wide 5x optical zoom lens with Dual IS ; Acceptable noise levels up to ISO 800 ; Modern "App style" user interface, very similar to a modern day...

Very weak flash ; Flash recharge time is up to 8 seconds ; While the flash is recharging, the camera is non-responsive ; AE issues in lower lighting conditions ; Rear shutter release can be hard to operate with one hand ; Uses microSD/SDHC cards, which...

Samsung MV800 Review

The Samsung MV800 is a 16.1 megapixel digital compact camera that uniquely features a flip-out touchscreen display which makes it easier to capture self-portraits and extreme low or high angled shots. Measuring just 18.3mm in depth, the MV800 also...

If point and shoot's your thing, then you'll be delighted with the new Samsung NV800, which offers by far the most hand-holding features that we've ever seen on a compact camera, coupled with a great touchscreen that largely succeeds in mimicking a...

Samsung MV800 Review: For The Narcissist In All Of Us

While the idea of a flip-out screen for self-portraits is just a tad gimmicky, the MV800 is one sweet little point-and-shoot. Whether you're straight-up obsessed with yourself, or a narcissist is hidden deep within, this thing just begs you to take...

Too many fun software features to count ; Compact (and beautiful) design: should fit comfortably in any pocket ; Straight-forward interface: easy enough for a grandma to understand

Touchscreen wasn’t as responsive as I’d have liked — flipping through pictures was a bit tedious ; No microphone input, despite 720p video capture capability ; Samsung may have overdone it on some funky features — Pose Guide, I’m talking to you

The Samsung MV800 isn’t a serious camera, but that’s fine. If you (or someone you know) is looking to have fun the MV800 is an excellent sub-$300 option. It’s cute, small, has more than enough features to keep you totally occupied, and it’ll probably...

Samsung MV800

An articulating LCD, smartphone-like interface and average images at a pretty steep price

Strong resolution test results; Great interface design

Spotty noise performance; Noise reduction wrecks low-light photos

As a tool for photography, the MV800 has almost no specs or features that stick out to us, the camera nerds that work for this website. Image quality is average at best—actually, it’s pretty crummy in anything but bright lighting. Shot-to-shot times...

Samsung MV800

Is the Samsung MV800 the ideal party snapper?

Flip-screen is ideal for self/group portraits, Smartphone-like controls easy to master, Lots of easy-to-use creative tools and effects

No built-in social networking integration, Flip-screen doesn't swivel, Much better value at £150 than £200

Samsung MV800 review

Tilting touchscreen and 16MP on a compact camera

Flip-out screen ; Fun art filters ; Sleek

Poor quality screen ; Touchscreen sometimes unresponsive

The key feature of the Samsung MV800 is of course its tilting screen, which makes it one of the only compact cameras to feature an adjustable screen, especially at this price point. While other screens articulate round to the side of a camera, the...
