Samsung NX10

The Samsung NX10 ($700 list, as of 7/21/10), another entry in the growing compact interchangeable-lens camera category, takes up less room in your camera bag than most DSLRs, while still featuring a 14.6-megapixel, APS-C CMOS image sensor; a 3-inch...

Convenient EVF, though not exceptional quality ; Excellent menu system with friendly user interface ; Good quality 3-inch LCD ; Clean, colorful JPEGs using auto controls ; Solid construction and comfortable grip ; Built-in flash and hot shoe

Cumbersome RAW processing ; Bundled software for Windows users only ; Poor video quality ; High price tag ; Image stabilization is average at best

We like the ease-of-use and firm construction of Samsung's NX10 interchangeable-lens camera, but its video and image qualities pale in comparison with those of competitors.

Samsung NX10 Review

The idea of a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera had been circulating for many years before Panasonic and Olympus announced the Micro Four Thirds camera system in August 2008, so it's not surprising that they didn't have the market to themselves...

Smallest interchangeable lens camera with an APS-C sensor Good image quality Very reliable metering and white balance in most shooting situations Excellent build quality Generally well-thought-through interface and ergonomics High specification for the...

Auto ISO will all too readily result in shaky photos Steep tone curve gives harsh transition to blown-out, white areas (as seen in Panasonic G series) Noise reduction in JPEGS can be destructive (especially in Smart Range mode) Several functions,...

Samsung is a little unfortunate to be the second guest to arrive at the mirrorless camera party - Micro Four Thirds has already made such a strong impression that it risks becoming the generic term for the new generation of mirrorless systems, even if...

Samsung NX10

Samsung's first Micro-Four-Thirds competitor holds its own, but is there room for another unique lens system among compact interchangeable-lens cameras?

Compact build with interchangeable lenses. D-SLR-like image quality and focusing speed. Negligible shutter lag. OLED screen offers extraordinary contrast and very little motion blur. Intuitive and attractive user interface. 720p30 HD video capture.

Included lens produces soft images. Noise at ISO 1600 and higher. No optical viewfinder. Limited lens and accessory selection. No microphone input.

Samsung NX10 review

For the Samsung NX10, the whole feels like a lot more than the sum of the parts. Except for a nice design, surprisingly good lenses, and its status as the first interchangeable-lens camera (ILC) with a relatively large APS-C-size sensor, there doesn't...

Comfortable, intelligent design; nice LCD; capable of producing excellent images.

Default image settings could be better; sensor cleaning on resume from standby; middling EVF; no override for EVF eye sensor; annoying raw software.

While there are enough drawbacks to keep the Samsung NX10 from being a no-brainer choice among interchangeable-lens cameras, it's still a well-designed model that's fun to shoot with and capable of producing very nice photos.

Samsung NX10 Camera Review

Samsung is the first company out of the gate with a major camera announcement at CES 2010, unveiling the first model in its NX series. The company announced the NX series at PMA 2009 early last year, but the NX10 is the first real-world NX series...

Superb shooting performance; Excellent build quality; Loads of fine tuning options; Vast array of useful exposure modes; Awesome 3.0-inch AMOLED display; High-quality EVF; Captures nice HD video; Powerful built-in flash; Captures beautiful 14-megapixel...

ISO 3200 shows a good amount of noise; Awkward position of Green and Drive mode buttons; Only three lens options currently (as of 6/2010); Contrast when using the Standard (default) Picture Wizard setting is a bit too strong which can increase the...

Samsung NX10 review

Samsung makes a lot of stuff, including cameras. In the past, they were actually Pentax clones. At least on the outside they were clones, because Samsung has made sensors for a lot longer. If you only make clones, you will not be taken very seriously...

With the NX10, Samsung has something new to offer, or actually several things. Not only is it the first camera that the brand has developed all by itself, it is also one of the first cameras on the market with changeable lenses, an APS-C sensor, and...

Samsung NX10 DSLR Camera Review

The NX10 is a new camera from Samsung that offers an interchangeable lens system and the ability to record 720p HD video. Overall, we weren't that impressed by what Samsung brought to the table with the video functions of the NX10.
