Could be worse...

I bought the OSD to get my kids VHS and DVD movies onto their MP4 players. Mission accomplished. I still had to convert the system's native .MP4 format to .avi using viDrop, it would have been nice to have various format options on the OSD menu.

Intuitive, small and does a very good job at recording VHS and DVD movies. Haven't tried recording from my satellite recorder yet, but I have no doubt that it will deliver. If you want to get rid of all your old VHS tapes without having to buy new...

I bought a 500 Gig external hard drive to use with it and it doesn't work. The manual says to format the hard drive in FAT32 and it still didn't work. I used an older 50 gig external, reformatted it to FAT32 and it didn't work. It does work with SD...

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT

I have confirmed that I will not buy another product from any company that I cannot speak to a live person. This emailing thing back and forth is not cool. The product may have worked for others, but it did not work for me.

It is one nice looking item.

It did not record to the external hard drive

Conceptually Cool, Functionally Challenged

This is for people who like to be on the cutting edge and have time, energy, and resources to spend on this. I was hoping to back up my VHS tapes and toss them in the trash. This is seeming less likely now, but perhaps I will work something out. Also,...

The idea is really cool and the product's feature set will expand through firmware downloads. This is a great way to get rid of all your VHS tapes and lower-quality dvds, archiving them in a single location. If you have an in house network, its even...

1) Support for storage is limited. For example, an external hard drive must be formatted FAT32. This is an archaic file system. I could not format my External hard drive FAT32 with anything on Vista x64. When I formatted it with some command line...

Changed my life...maybe

My car got repo'd, the rent is late, and serveral creditors harass me over the phone on an hourly basis. But I fear not the hopeless of my financial existence because this little box and it's open source community inspired me to keep up the good fight.

I no longer need proof of "a supreme being" for the Neuros OSD exists!

Due to it's inability to properly see my Vista based computer via SMB I am forced to pour more money into a rapidly declining currency feeding a system of greed and "rational self interest" to build a NFS file server with parts I will probably end up...

Love this Thing

This replaced a GeekBox. Use this to watch movies and some music from a WHS. Records a few VHS that I could not find DVD replacemnts for. A nice change over having a PC next to the TV.

Small and does everything I need. Updates are free.

Might have some limit's for those using a Media PC.

Well....

The nice appearance is ruined quickly by the fact that you have a nasty looking memory card hanging out of the side of it. If you want to play back DVD's without changing the format better look elsewhere! Used DVDFAB to change to every format that it...

Nice glossy finish and easy to set up. Everything you need in the package. Can record from TV

Playback not up to par even under different formats, set-ups, and using current firmware version

Outstanding Product

This is open source at its best.

Able to legally archive all your media including TIVO and DVR. You can browse YouTube and watch them on your TV (my teen loves that part). This thing is simply amazing and easy to use. Picture quality is excellent. Audio is excellent. I save my videos...

Not a consumer ready product

This product is NOT ready for consumers. If you are planning to hack it and write software, have at it. If your intent is actually to use it, don't bother. The resulting encoded files do not look good at all and are full of artifacts. I fed a good...

Attractive case. Includes all needed cables. Nicely packaged. Easily upgraded.

Slow, confusing interface. Sluggish, intermittent response to remote, ugly encoding. Buggy software. Unresponsive, spongy feeling remote.

I love my OSD!!!!!

I absolutely love this product. I purchased the Neuros OSD knowing fully that it wasn't a High-Def recorder; this device will mainly be used for my portable media players. It's done a phenominal job so far. I'm extremely pleased with the ease of setup,...

Simple setup, easy to use, and excellent media storage compatibility. (USB thumb drives, external hard drives, Compact Flash, SD, Memory Stick Pro, etc.) The video quality is great, and the ability to change the video output format to cater to the...

Will not replace your TiVo or any other High Definition DVR. No Built-in storage. Standard RCA output only.
