Denon's powerhouse DVD-3800BD player has dazzling performance, but no BD Live
Picture sound and build quality ; Multimedia support
Lacks BD Live ; Sluggish disc loading
Offers possibly the best Blu-ray picture and sound quality around, but if you like online extras it will leave you feeling short-changed

Virtually bomb-proof build-quality, pictures show great contrast and good definition
Only profile 1.1 ; colours a little overblown compared to other players ; a little safe sounding
We were impressed when this player was first tested and the Denon is still a good option. It just suffers against the new decks on the block

Denon's flagship Blu-ray player is massively more expensive than its rivals – but can its build and spec justify the outlay?
The finest Blu-ray player on the planet. Painfully pricey, but in the right system it will astonish

The Denon DVD-3800 enters the Blu-ray ring with some impressive credentials, from 1080p/24fps output via a HQV video processor and HDMI 1.3a to internal decoding of all High Definition audio tracks. There's just one thing holding it back: the price.
Picture and audio quality are both outstanding
Blu-ray players don't get much more expensive than this
The Denon DVD-3800 produces some of the finest pictures known to man. It's a shame it costs the Earth, and weighs almost weighs as much...

The Denon DVD-3800BD is an audiophile Profile 1.1 Blu-ray player with 1080p/24fps output via a HQV video processor and HDMI 1.3a. Internal decoding of all High Definition audio tracks, with Burr Brown DAC for all channels. It also has SD card with DivX...
Whether you’re into music, movies or PhotoCDs (weirdo), this top-end Denon is the only the disc spinner you’ll need, for at least another decade. Denon DVD-3800BD is tagged with Denon DVD-3800BD, Denon and Blu-Ray player. Select a tag (Denon...

The DVD-3800bdci was the first piece that had great underground press. I had paid $1200.00 for a Sony BDP-1 I believe, and took it back the very next day, it could not do SD-DVD as well as my old Denon DVD-2910. Not too cool. I went through a series of...
It's upscale capability in SD-DVD is better then many $500.00 players in Blu-Ray, it uses the same Silicon Optix chip used in the DVD-5910ci.($3900.00) Blu-Ray is fantastic. The sound with hdmi is as good as I could hope for. Build quality seems above...
Money, a bit expensive. Had an early recall, 24fps. Denon service spotted other potential problems and are sending me a brand new A-stock DVD-3800BDCI. I guess that should be a pro? So I guess it's money. Firmware upgrades should be sent by mail with...

Let me start off by saying how horrible it is that you cannot distinguish DTS-HD HR from DTS-HD MA in the specs page. There is no such thing as "DTS-HD", but many CE manufacturers have continued this misnomer even in product literature. It is either...
Superb CD over analog, beautiful BD/DVD picture with Realta, decoding of all lossless codecs, solid construction
Does not decode DTS-HD HR, somewhat sluggish in response

So why do you have to pay $2K to own this Blu Ray player?? The simple answer is the two processors mentioned above for the most part.
Simply the best picture and sound over any other blu ray player
loading time could be improved! you can pop you popcorn while waiting for this thing to load

This is a great piece of equipment, and changed the way I view Denon products. Connection, audio, video set-up was easy. I connected using 7.1 analog, and bitstream digital into a Lexicon MC12 with HDMI muted, HD audio, LPCM 7.1 on. The monitor is a...

Problem occurred when launching the OSD from the remote. The OSD audio information being displayed is not correct. The OSD always displays ( Audio: PCM Channels: 2) for all HD decoded audio formats. Denon is working on this problem ; Also no DVD-audio,...
