The best

I do not know how the dvd player works I have never used them. I was only interested in the digital tuner side.

I have installed about 20 of these for commercial use and they work great. Easy to set up and the picture quality is clear. I have them running 24/7 for 11 months now and not a problem. I have coax for the signal in and then rca cables for the out put.

none so far.

PHILIPS DVDR3505/37 Upconversion DVD Player/Recorder

I have several Philirs products and the have always been reliable

HDMI shure reduces the number of cables, works well, Phillips & Newegg seem to come through strong.

Box received in poor condition and had something shaking around inside it, it had a torn up Fedex label on it even though it came to me UPS. At first I thought it was a re-pack, but after opening the box everything looked new, but the foam packing had...

Good choice if you can live with the quirks

Bought this on impulse after seeing that it had a built in ATSC tuner. It replaced a Cyberhome CH-300 on a 27-in conventional TV in my bedroom. The first thing you'll notice is that it is dead slow in loading and accessing content on DVD. Maybe this ...

Excellent picture quality, both in playback and recording.

Quirky, slow, and buggy Gen 1 software.

Phillips is Best Picture Clarity on "CRT" TV

The Phillips DVDR3505/37 has the best "digital tuner" picture quality out of the two other DVD recorders that I have tested with "digital tuners" (Panasonic and Samsung). The Phillips DVDR3505 produces an amazingly clear OTA digital picture on my old...

Outstanding OTA picture on "CRT" TV. 4.3Pan&Scan option for clear fullscreen OTA HD program viewing.

Slow channel changing. No DVD-RAM capability.

Some Nice Features, Some Not So Nice Features

First, the positives. Picture and sound quality on playback are excellent. The remote has a toggle with a 30 second commercial skip at the top and "Rapid Play" at the bottom. You can hit the Skip up to 6 consecutive times in a row with a little ...

Excellent picture and sound.

Slow channel changing, pedestrian feature set, keeps forgetting the channel pre-sets.

A huge improvement

This was the second DVD recorder from the new generation with ATSC tuners I tried - the first one was the LG DR787T. It was a close call, but at the end (and after trying the Samsung DVD-AR650 of course!) I decided to keep the LG. The previous ...

excellent picture, improved interface, ATSC/NTSC/QAM tuners, working auto clock, price.

No true HD or DD, slow tuning, poor channel management, weak remote.
