Panasonic DMP-BD60 Blu-ray player reviewed, are the new features worth it?

Panasonic's DMP-BD60 hits the scene as the successor to the well-received DMP-BD35, packing Viera Cast features on top of BD-Live capability in a slim (& m...

Panasonic DMP-BD60

The Panasonic DMP-BD60 Blu-ray player looks and works a lot like its predecessor, but comes with a few fun online upgrades.

1080p24 DVD upconversion. Google-based online multimedia features. Quick-start feature improves start-up time. Very energy efficient.

1080p24 DVD upconversion feature needs to be manually activated. Optional memory required for BD-Live support. Quick-start feature increases standby power consumption.

Panasonic DMP-BD60K Blu-Ray Review

Excellent image quality ; Sleek, attractive design

Unhelpful on-screen displays

The Panasonic DMP-BD60K costs a little more than other players, but its superb image quality and intelligent design justify its price.

Panasonic DMP-BD60K review

From our perspective, the Panasonic DMP-BD35 was a landmark for the Blu-ray format, as it was the first standalone player we could wholeheartedly recommend, earning the Editors' Choice award. The Panasonic DMP-BD60 is the successor to the DMP-BD35 and...

Excellent image quality with Blu-ray movies; Profile 2.0-compliant; onboard decoding for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio Essential; access to YouTube and Picasa; Amazon On Demand streaming coming in May.

Competitors offer more next-generation features like built-in Wi-Fi, Netflix streaming, and onboard memory; operational speed slow compared with newest players.

The Panasonic DMP-BD60 offers excellent image quality and reliable Blu-ray playback, but it doesn't have as many features as the competition.

Panasonic BD-60 Blu-ray Player

Panasonic has a long tradition of producing well regarded, competitively priced disc players. Many of their DVD players were among the best at producing a 480p image, and at a very reasonable cost. Panasonic was at it again with Blu-ray, being one of...

Panasonic DMP-BD60K

The DMP-BD60K is an excellent Blu-ray player available at a very reasonable price. And while it doesn't have all of the features offered by some of the competition, the build quality and performance is better than most. If you're ready to take the...

Panasonic DMP-BD 60

Comprehensive multimedia functionality., Superb 24p movie picture., Excellent DVD playback., Seven picture controls., Also decodes digital 7.1-channel audio.

Audible disc drive and fans., No analog multichannel output., Forgets "Film" mode for DVDs.

Put simply, this is an excellent Blu-ray player. Picture and sound both impress - even for DVD playback. We're more than happy to overlook the two small weaknesses - slight edge flicker in HD documentaries and a forgetfulness for "Film" mode -...

Review: Panasonic DMP-BD60K Blu-ray player

On all counts, the Panasonic DMP-BD60K is a well-made Blu-ray player, and it ranks among the best such devices you can buy today.

Excellent image quality ; Sleek, attractive design

Unhelpful on-screen displays

Panasonic made the DMP-BD60K compact, sleek, and attractive, so it will fit wherever you want to put it. The player's Power and Eject buttons are large and sensibly positioned

Panasonic DMP-BD60K Blu-ray Player Preview

Panasonic's DMP-BD60K Blu-ray player features a solid lineup of features at a fairly reasonable price. It's not going to blow anyone away, but at an MSRP of $199, it doesn't need to. The BD60K does most of what we've come to expect from a low to mid...

Panasonic DMP-BD60 Blu-ray Player

It seems like just yesterday that I reviewed the DMP-BD35 and DMP-BD55 players (HT, December 2008). But Panasonic spared little time getting its replacements out into the market. This was almost a blink, and you'll miss the window for the DMP-BD35 and...
