Just what i expected

Some have complained about the usefulness of the tv guide onscreen feature when compared with the tivo interface... i have no experience with tivo, but can't think of any complaints regarding the FREE tv guide alternative offered by this unit....

TV guide listings ; Huge capacity ; Intuitive operation ; Ablility to simultaneously record and watch previously recorded shows or dvd's ; NEVER HAVING TO WATCH COMMERCIALS AGAIN

No!! Stop and desist! Don't even think about it!

My version of the EH55 came with a 160GB hard drive, and with a few caveats I was very happy with it. The picture was as good as the reviews I had seen (this was in the days before High Definition, of course). Nothing prepared me, though, for the ...

Convenient. Made good DVDs. Not heavy (for taking it back for repair...)

Unreliable. Died after 18 months. Couldn't make 16:9 DVDs. Not good.

More than pleasantly surprised by the DMR-EH55

The Panasonic recorder really does an excellent all-round job. My configuration is a flat panel plasma without a cable box. I use the TV Guide ON SCREEN constantly to both select channels, search for programs, and record both indivudal and repeat...

Complete - works out of the box - really functional

Price - and as with other multipurpose items, you need to follow the instructions
