Philips DVDR3360H

Philips' previous DVD/Hard Disk recorder, the DVDR560H, was our all time favourite in this category. So we were eager to see what Philips had done wit...

Easy to use, sleek

Slightly cumbersome when copying to DVD, limited connectivity

A basic HDD/DVD recorder that will appeal to those seeking a simplistic system

Philips DVDR3360H

The DVDR3360H has a lot of promise on paper, but less than acceptable playback performance and some truly baffling limitations in its menu and titling structures detract from the overall package.

Up to 200 hours recording time ; Very simple to backup to disc ; Automatically buffers video content

Glitchy playback performance ; Some lockups ; Limited title entry ; Lacks dual layer support

Editor's Note: Philip's companion DVDR7300H DVD recorder (RRP AU$1,149) has a hard drive capacity of 250GB, a 6-hour buffer, and HDMi output with video up-scaling to 1080i. It can also record onto double layer discs so you can archive up to 15 hours of...

Philips DVDR3360H

Before I bought the DVDR3360H I asked if the hard disk could be replaced with a 40gig. No problems they said. I coughed up $499.95. AU. Proceeded to take out the 160gig HDD for the PC, connected a 40gig to the DVDR3360H. No Tuner, No DVD, NOTHING. ...

Still thinking

If HDD dies or is removed, the whole system dies. No TV. No DVD

Philips DVDR3360H

Took it back and bought a Pioneer dvr-640h , WOW what a difference in ease of use, high speed recording etc. Have had the Pioneer 6 months now and still works great!

Less expensive than the Pioneer dvr-640h ; DVI input

Slow dubbing ; Poor menus ; Very cumbersome software, not used friendly

"Find another unit to buy... or wait for firmware upgrade!"

reasonably adept unit - mostly simple to operate

First unit kept locking up - dealer eventually replaced after machine been in for repair for a week. This one hasnt locked up, but does odd things while in menus. DVD forgets where it was playing when HDD starts timer record, same on pressing stop....
