Toshiba BDX5300

The Toshiba BDX5300 offers a lot of features in a Wi-Fi-capable, 3D-supporting Blu-ray player, but its design choices and finicky interface hurt it.

Built-in Wi-Fi. Supports 3D.

Few connection options. Cheap-feeling remote. Interface feels sluggish.

A great-value 3D Blu-ray deck with built-in Wi-Fi and web content

Built-in Wi-Fi, Excellent picture quality, Useful web services

Dated operating system, Poor remote, Lightweight build quality, Won’t play DivX

Toshiba BDX5300 review

BBC iPlayer, Wi-Fi and 3D Blu-ray support in a budget chassis

Smart TV services ; 3D Blu-ray playback ; Digital file support ; Low price

Basic user interface ; High relative price ; Awkward remote control ; No MKV playback

Ease of use increasingly makes or breaks electronic products, but with the Toshiba BDX5300 Blu-ray player, Toshiba is hoping there are shoppers out there who still put core features and a low price at the top of their wish lists.

Toshiba BDX5300 review

The budget Toshiba BDX5300 Blu-ray player is not quite the bargain we hoped

Integrated Wi-Fi ; Hi-def video performance

Limited streaming TV services ; Slow disc loading ; Basic menus

Nice Blu-ray player

I would recommend this to anyone wanting a very nice 3d Blu-ray player.

Easy to setup, on-screen menus easy to navigate. Very nice picture

Avoid this product!

I made the mistake of buying this piece of junk before researching it online (since I've usually had luck with Toshiba). Turns out that quite a few of the blu-ray players are horribly defective: spontaneous shutdowns during playback, frozen screens,...

A waste of your money

I purchased this blu ray player a short 3 months ago and now I can only turn it off by unplugging it... after it freezes every single time I try to log on to Netflix. It freezes, skips and shuts down but not off. I am disgusted.

Consumer review (newegg.com)

A little disappointed.

I'm expecting this layer to not last beyond the 6 month mark given the issues i have encountered so far. That being said, for what i paid it's not that bad. Will update if it dies before the 6 months are up.

Great picture, and up scaling for standard dvd playback. OSD menu is pretty straight forward allowing for fast setup.

I'm not really sure whats going on here, but this player does not work well with dvd+rw media, or anything other than bought dvd movie disk's. you'll be lucky if you get half way through the disk before it freezes or starts skipping sections of the...
