Disappointing Product

I originally thought this was a great buy. After owning it for about a year I am disappointed. It's features are lacking and it is not reliable. I should have paid a little bit more and gotten something worthwhile. I would not recommend this product.

This DVD player is attractive, small, and cheap. It plays both CDs and DVDs

I have been very gentle to this player and it has ceased to function. I cannot even get it to open any longer. It does not remember where you stopped watching a movie and it inserts a brief gap between each track when playing a CD

Nice DVD player, but don't be fooled.

I gave it 4 stars because it is a nice DVD player, just not the one I thought I was getting.

Nice slim design, has all the basic functions you need. Plays CDs, Divx, and regular DVDs. A nice DVD player

This is the Toshiba SD-3990 that only plays region 1 dvds. There is another SD-3990 brand that has an NTSC/PAL converter and plays multiregion DVDs. Be sure that the description has it playing multiregion DVDs otherwise you'll get this kind

Ditch This

Brand name - thought this would help ; Menuing system is good ; Slim design

Most of my dixv's will stutter or stop, and this is on cd-r media ; Shows that play fine on my liteon or PC will not play, the player acts as if the media was dirty. Anyhow I'll have to replace it as it is not suitable for the job and Toshiba has no...

Great 2nd DVD!

Durable & reliable. A sure value for price.

This DVD Player amazed me! It plays a wide array of CD & DVD Media (VCD, Divx, Etc.) with no problems. Remote is simple to use and all features worked great

S-Video out was a little dark on colors. But not too bad

TOSHIBA SD-3990 DVD Player

Remember to plug in the yellow composite cable first, go into the menu, and change the input source to component or progressive scan, otherwise nothing will come up on the screen.

Plays just about every format you can throw at it, divx, mpeg, burned DVD-R's, and its really thin

Drive tray is a little flimsy but then again, what DVD player isn't

Great

IMPORTANT!! HOOK THIS UP THROUGH STANDARD RED/WHITE/YELLOW component video FIRST, then follow the manual to set the system for YPBPR. Otherwise you might not get picture!

Good quality video, will browse through folders on data disks, so far has played every retail dvd flawlessly, played really poorly transferred imports with only one glitch (vs. many more on a computer) and is excellent in support for avi/divx/xvid video

GUI could use a bit of work, but still pleasant enough. I don't really like the remote but I have a universal, so doesn't matter to me

Outstanding value

Excellent player at a great price! I have a model 3980 on #2 TV that I paid twice the price for last year. This unit does even better for a single DVD player. The NewEgg processing for delivery was incredibly fast on this shipment. Nice change

Single DVD movie playing. But then, how many 2 hours movies are you going to be watching at onetime???? (Gotta get off the couch once in a while) Playing music video's is another question

Pretty Darn Good!

Wow, you guys paid 55 for it eh? I think I paid like 38 for it in Nov or Dec of 06. Maybe it has gone up in price since then (sigh). But it was inexpensive, and it has been, for the most part, a great little DVD player. The Zoom feature described (by ...

seemingly quality product for the price, sturdy

directions not accurate for integration to Home theatre, ate some dvd/cds

Short life

The features were great, especially being able to watch DivX movies without having to recode them as a DVD. One limitation I found was it would not read multi-burned files on DVD - burn a few AVI files to a DVD-R was fine, burn more and it would only ...

DivX playback, slim design

did not last long
