Iriver Story HD review: Iriver Story HD

Iriver Story HD

The ; has a higher-resolution display (768x1,024 pixels) than competing e-ink e-readers; Google Books integration; built-in Wi-Fi; an expansion slot for additional memory; and good battery life (about a month with limited daily use and wireless off).

There's no touch-screen interface, audio capabilities, annotation, or social-networking features.

The Iriver Story HD is a decent e-reader for fans of Google Books, but it's tough to recommend over its identically priced competitors, which offer touch screens and 3G.

iriver's follow-up ereader to the Story (and its first US market offering) — the Story HD — features a newly redesigned piece of hardware, but you might not know that it's a 2011 product from a...

Crisp, high resolution display ; Very light ; Quick, responsive software

Same price as competition with fewer features ; Power button poorly placed ; No ability to highlight or make notes

iriver Story HD

The iriver Story HD sports a fantastic screen and it's the first ebook reader with Google eBooks integration, but an outdated feature set can't compete with leaders like the Kindle or the Nook.

High-resolution 1024-by-768 E Ink screen. Fast, responsive performance. Google eBooks sync online, and with other devices.

Hardware feels a bit flimsy. Requires too much effort to sync. Few reading customization options. No newspapers or magazines.

iRiver Story HD Review: First E-Reader Tied to Google's Ebookstore Sometimes Frustrates

Google is everywhere right now. The company has made a strong push with its Google Books project, but until now it hasn't had a tie-in to a stand-alone e-reader. That changes with the iRiver Story HD, which goes on sale this weekend at Target for $140....

Clean interface ; High-resolution XGA E Ink display

Buttons are stiff, and poorly placed ; Sometimes sluggish navigation

This e-reader offers a crisp, high-resolution display, but its chintzy design leaves much to be desired.

iRiver Story HD Review

The iRiver Story HD is touted as the very first e-reader to have Google eBookstore integration. The original iRiver Story has been called an Amazon Kindle clone, but this new model affixed with “HD” to its name now sports a higher XGA (1024x768)...

Despite the notion that the iPad and the onslaught of Android tablets would kill e-readers, that just hasn’t been the case. For those seeking to surf the internet, watch videos, play games, and use various apps, the tablet is the obvious choice. But...

iRiver Story HD Review

The iriver Story HD is the third ebook reader from iriver and is the first ebook reader to tie in directly with the Google ebookstore. There's also a European model that doesn't have WiFi or Google eBooks, but is otherwise mostly the same.

The iriver Story HD comes with the latest cutting edge screen technology, but it has the feature-set of an ebook reader from yesteryear.
