Adidas miCoach Smart Run review: the almost-perfect training partner

When we first heard about the Adidas Smart Run, we were more than a little eager to try it out. If you're both a techie and a runner, then the boatload o

Performs the job of multiple devices ; Real-time training plans ; Well-built hardware

Poor battery life ; Music playback too quiet ; Unable to export your data

The Adidas miCoach Smart Run is effectively a personal trainer, run tracker and media player you wear on your wrist. It has a premium feel and performs well, but poor battery life and a high price dampen our enthusiasm.

Adidas miCoach Smart Run

Adidas's first running watch is well off the pace.

Comfortable design ; Wrist-based heart rate monitor ; Simple miCoach system

Terrible battery life ; Expensive ; Requires a charging dock

Even with only a basic array of swipe and tap gestures, the watch is easy to control, even when plodding along on a run. What’s more, the screen is easy to read in most lighting conditions, from brightly lit rooms to gloomy night time runs.

Adidas MiCoach Smart Run review

Adidas' MiCoach Smart Run wants to be your training partner, but does this smartwatch have the legs to keep up with you?

As smart as they come, but not quite fit enough to keep up

Adidas MiCoach Smart Run review: Smart enough?

Nike, TomTom, Jawbone, Withings; they all want to help you get fit - or at least want you to buy their products to do so. Wearable sports fitness items have gone berserk since 2012, when bits of plastic worn around the wrist started telling us that we...

The battery and the dock are something of a pain, and the weak Wi-Fi connection can be a farce but using the Adidas miCoach Smart Run watch to get you fit is certainly a better way to go it than on your own. All the same, it does cost £300.
