Consumer review (newegg.com)

Don't buy this product

Have not tried MS Streets and Trips yet. Go with the BU-353 and you can't go wrong, it will be compatible with anything (it just sends nmea on a com port), is waterproof, and has a built-in magnet so you can pop it onto the roof of your car if you want.

Good compatibility with a variety of GPS devices. As usual, Newegg delivered fast. While a bit quirky to get used to at first, the routing features are fairly straight-forward

2 major issues with this product ; 1. The maps are way out of date. On a recent trip around the plains (I am a storm chaser), there were several times where the software did not show new/updated roads. The software also has the uncanny ability to NOT...

Don't Buy

Newegg's return policy treats this product as software, even though it includes a GPS unit. That means I can't return it even though I have had it less than 30 days. I should have read the fine print before I bought.

The GPS receiver was compact and seemed to work well. Lots of software whistles and bells. Probably a good tool sales ppl planning to canvass a neighborhood

Frustrating. You cannot remap keyboard shortcuts easily. It requires use of multiple keys for most commands. Not good when driving ; Screen layout poor. Lots of real-estate wasted. Current GPS location is in center of laptop screen, not in center of...

not too shabby updated

i want to add this bit of info to those using gps software or dedicated (i.e. tom tom, garmin devices) if you are using this in a commercial truck, i.e. 18 wheeler, you are taking matters into your own hands this is for CARS and thus use your best...

updates are FREE no buying a new sd card for 59.95 for new "current" map after you dropped $300 for a gps unit. dont know if this would be a con or not but it only uses around 950mb-1.1 gb depending on options installed even as little as 250 mb will...

price went down AGAIN arghhh

YAY!

I think its a good and cheap alternative to MS Streets and Trips - its interface is a little weird, but I feel the extra features more than offset the generally lacking interface. If your willing to spend some time to learn the ins/outs and...

Cheaper than whats out there - works well (GPS unit works fast), lots of features, runs well on my "netbook" - an Acer Aspire One (windows version). Works very well for planning, and also reasonably well as a navigation system. Voice commands are...

Maps sometimes are lacking POI's that should be included (2 year old hotel for example) - interface is not the most user friendly but just requires some time to figure out

A little disappointed

As far as Newegg........ Always a pleasure doing bussiness with them, they tell it the way it is, no surprises, good pricing also. One negative (If you want to call it a negative) I checked on their website and it showed that it was charged but not...

Priced right, many good features, Always liked Delorme mapping products

Some what hard to navigate around in, being a new updated mapping system, it didn't even have my home addrsss on the map or a hotel/casino which has been in bussiness at the same location for over 15 years. I guess I should give it more time and get...

Ok for the $$$

We preferred this over Streets and Trips 4 years ago. I am hesitant to buy anything from Microsoft now as they have done such a wonderful job of alienating customers with Vista and Office 2007.

Program lets us put in up to 100 stops to route, of which we break up our days and copy files to make new routes. If you actually use the GPS with 100 stops you will have problems! Newer GPS receiver is more accurate, but still lags behind so you have...

Program is a bit clunky to learn - not very intuitive. Been using Delorme software for 4 years and it has improved some. Need a way to move a stop by just dragging them. On Vista, voice is hard to understand, but that is the new Vista subsystem
