Garmin Nuvi 295W review

Garmin Nuvi 295W

The Garmin Nuvi 295W features crisply rendered maps and quick routing/rerouting of trips. Its text-to-speech feature speaks street names when giving directions. The unit's autocorrect function learns frequently typed words and helps with entering...

All of the Nuvi 295W's connected features require Wi-Fi connectivity, which we found finicky to connect. Screen resolution is a bit low for Web browsing. The unit lacks traffic data, highway lane guidance, and Bluetooth hands-free calling, all of which...

The Garmin Nuvi 295W is a solid point-to-point GPS navigator with a few neat tricks that on-foot navigators may appreciate, but its secondary camera and Wi-Fi-connected features just aren't very useful from behind the wheel.

Garmin nuvi 295W review

Hands on with the Garmin nuvi 295W UPDATE: The nuvi 2×5 series has been officially discontinued. For current recommendations, see our auto GPS buyers guide. The Garmin nüvi 295W is the first nuvi to include WiFi, giving you Internet and email access on...

Email access via WiFi networks ; Small, pocket-sized ; Easy WiFi and email setup ; Powered mount ; Multi-destination routing ; Fully compatible with pedestrian and mass transit features of CityXplorer maps ; Tri-axial compass

Very short battery life ; Speaker is not loud enough ; 3.5” screen ; 2.5 mm headphone jack ; Very slow browser ; No traffic capabilities (not available as an add-on either)

As I said in the beginning, the nuvi 295W is a good choice for someone who would like email on the go, but isn’t ready to spring for a smartphone data plan. Were it not for the speaker and battery life (more deal killers than the weak browser, IMHO),...

Despite some bad reviews, I really like my new Garmin. I got a very good Garmin GPS for a great price and I got some really innovative features that are sometimes quirky, but a neat bonus. Email, weather, and internet are great when wifi is available....

Incredible deal!

I already owned a 255W Nuvi with an expired map. I found the unit too big to carry around...This 295W unit was priced below the onetime map update so i jumped on this deal!Next year i'll be pleased to buy a lifetime map upgrade for such a great looking...

great unit

I love this GPS. It will not drain the battery if you hold the ON OFF switch down for 5 secs until it vibrates. Otherwise it will drain in 2 days.
