Magellan RoadMate 760 review

Magellan RoadMate 760

Fast route calculation; accurate receiver; text-to-speech directions; new detour function; multidestination routing.

Expensive; unstable mounting cradle.

Magellan's RoadMate 760 delivers a slew of new features that make vehicle navigation easier than ever before.

Based on looks alone, you might easily confuse the new Magellan RoadMate 760 with its older sibling, the RoadMate 700. Indeed, except for the new model number on the front panel, the units appear identical. On the inside, however, are many new...

Excellent navigation features including Smart Detour and text-to-speech. Announces street names. Well-categorized points of interest.

Menu system less intuitive and more difficult to learn than other in-car GPS systems. Lacks 3D map view.

Despite its lack of a 3D map view, the excellent navigation options make the RoadMate 760 a very road-worthy system.

Magellan RoadMate 760 GPS Review

With the RoadMate 760 there is no need to download maps. The latest, most up-to-date NAVTEQ maps are preloaded on a 20GB hard drive for out-of-the-box street navigation. You really can take it out of the box, put into the car and it's ready to use.

One of the best GPS we've ever used, SayWhere tells you the name of the upcoming street, 7 million points of interest, 20 GB hard drive - no need to download maps ever, Super responsive GSP receiver - updates in real time

Not as portable as some of the newer GPS units on the market, Expensive

Do yourself a fav.: skip it!

Bought a Garmin Nuvi and cant believe I didnt do it long time ago. No Magellan products for me. EVER!

None that I know besides you can wash your car, check tire pressure, read sunday newspaper and still make it on time before this amazing unit finds satellite signal

Sent couple times for repair. Nothing can make it work. Finally I gave up on voice and drove with no sound. Also: there is no, I mean 'NO' tech support whatsoever
