Review: Magellan CROSSOVERGPS

Pop Quiz: It's dark, you're lost in the Appalachians, and you can hear maniacal hillbilly laughter off in the distance. What do you do? Power...

IPX-4 certified waterproofing. Removable rubber housing for grip and durability. Automatically adjusts color and brightness in response to lighting. Plays MP3s stored on SD cards over speaker. Includes 1.5GB of storage and preloaded topographical maps

At 3.4 x 4.3 inches it’s not quite pocket-sized. Switching menus gets confusing if you’re navigating a mix of terrain. Clumsy media player controls. Live traffic info only available with a subscription

Magellan CrossoverGPS review: Magellan CrossoverGPS

The Magellan CrossoverGPS offers navigation for drivers, boaters, and walkers. The unit is also water resistant and comes with a sport guard for protection. The receiver did a great job of tracking our location, and driving directions were accurate.

General performance was sluggish, and the unit was slow to recalculate routes. It's also too big and heavy to carry on long walks or hikes, and you can't enter specific addresses in Outdoor mode.

The Magellan CrossoverGPS is a versatile GPS, offering navigation help to drivers, boaters, and walkers, but it's tripped up by sluggish performance.

Marine maps are optional. No vehicle profiles for bicycle/pedestrian modes.
