Magellan eXplorist 210 Review

The 210 comes with a cable to transfer maps, waypoints and other data to and from a PC, a capability the eXplorist 200 lacks. The 210 is very similar to the eXplorist 400, except that the 210 has 22MB of built-in memory, whereas the 400 utilizes an SD...

Wonderful!

Great for hiking, camping, off-roading, etc. Needs a method for attaching an external antennae though for use while driving.

Very very good unit for the price. If you're a budget minded fellow looking to get the best value, this is definitely it. I loaded up the Pacific Northwest detailed maps on it, and it is just amazing ; At first, I thought the unit was a joke - the...

Mapping Software is expensive and hard to come by. Hard (nearly impossible) to find any open-source solutions that were compatible for uploading maps to the gps unit. If you have a chance, borrow a friend's older copy of the Topo3D software, I diffed...

Excellent Little GPS

I used the software from my friend who has an Explorist 400 and its good software, but expensive. I got a detailed map from NW Maryland to Ocean City on the GPS with a little bit of space to spare.

It can basically do everything the Explorist 400 can do but for half the price

No rechargable battery. (But long battery life with AAs) ; No SD slot. (32MB built in) ; No mapping softare. (Borrow a friends) ; No detailed maps. They are very basic and only show main highways. Use Magellan Topo 3D to get more detailed maps

Bad

Without the Discover Aus Roads and Tracks you might just as well stick to the old Etax for bush walking.

Just about all except below

The DiscoverAus v 1 is really old crap!!
