Magellan Maestro 4050

Magellan Maestro 4050 is the first personal navigator with voice recognition.

4.3-inch screen. Improved user interface. AAA TourBook and roadside assistance location. Sensitive SiRFstarIII receiver. Multisegment routing. Voice recognition provided for many functions. Traffic-report receiver integrated into mounting bracket.

Bluetooth phone interface failed to read our test phone's contact list and didn't automatically reconnect. No auto-zoom or auto-volume. Can't control all functions with voice commands.

Magellan Maestro 4050 Review

Using your hands to operate your GPS is SO last year! why not just use your voice to boss your car around? That's the promise behind Magellan's traffic-enabled, voice controlled Maestro 4050. Sounds great, right? Like most new technologies, the devil's...

Good for General Use

The routing options for this unit can be somewhat confusing. When you enter a destination it asks you to pick Fastest time, Shortest Distance, Avoid Toll Roads, Most Use of Freeways or Least use of Freeways. Huh....?!!!!

Accurate. Gets You to your destination. The map does not zoom out to a picture of the USA when you are not using the gps feature. This was an annoying feature with the Garmin Nuvi. With this one I can view upcoming street names without having to imput...

Bluetooth clarity is lacking. Don't get this unit if you are considering it for the bluetooth functionality unless you plan on using a fm transmitter.

magellan... magellan? Ma-gell-an!

I live in southern california and bought this for my wife last christmas, it has worked great as a general GPS/Navigation unit. Some special features such as Voice Command have proven flawed. You say "magellan" to activate the menu, but end up saying...

Very bright, vivid, easy to read and follow display. audio commands are clear and easy to understand. Quickly reroutes to your destination, instead of asking you to make a U-turn, if you miss a turn. Navigation is spot on, very accurate. Bluetooth call...

The voice command feature is frustrating, as it fails often, which, in true Windows form, requires you to reset the unit often. It's ""powered"" by Windows*CE. Bluetooth feature does not work well with most cell phones and IS NOT hands free as...

Stay away from Magellan!

Do your self a favour: buy Garmin Nuvi. It is FAR more superior product. That's what I finally did.

Gives you a lot of time to think why did you buy this unit while searching for satellate signal.

Magellan tech support is ... just none. You are on your own.
