Portable Gear

With its comparatively large 16-color, 120- by 160-pixel backlit display, the Magellan Meridian Color adds a whole new dimension to GPS receivers. It's the first color standalone GPS device in the industry. Yes, it's the most expensive of the devices...

Magellan Meridian Color

The Magellan Meridian Color is a handheld GPS unit with a color screen and a CD Card slot so you can load a variety of different maps. It's designed to do everything anyone involved in outdoor recreational activities (sailing, hiking, fishing, hunting)...

The Magellan Meridian Color and its brethren (Meridian Platinum, Gold, and Marine) are rugged, flexible handheld GPS receivers primarily meant to be used for outdoors and sports navigation. MapSend software allows data customization for various...

Great handheld GPS for the price

First off, The Magellan Meridian Color is a great handheld GPS. It is small, waterproof (so they say) and shows everything in vibrant color. The screen is a good size, but not as large as more modern, in-car navigation systems. This is due to its...

Excellent Handheld Marine Navigation

I use this unit in the US North Atlantic. I have a 17 foot Newport daysailer that I take from the mainland New Hampshire coast to the Isle of Shoals, around Portsmouth Harbor, into Southern Maine and around Hampton and Rye NH. Before I had the...

Buyer beware. Watch out for this unit!

It's not all good news. I purchased this unit in Australia and the expensive maps that HAVE to be purchased from Magellan only to find that the unit didn't support street numbers. They told me that there would be an update in January but it never...

Great display. Ergonomic design. Supports SD card

Poor support, no Europe map

I purchased this device based on the review from CNet. What a mistake! The device is indeed portable with battery power, but it doesn't have the voice prompt which is critical for driving guidance. It advertised to have Europe map available in Spring...

Color Handheld GPS

I never considered a GPS until I demoed one at a store and thought it could be the answer to my terrible sense of direction. I spend half my time lost on my way to an important client fumbling for maps and stopping to ask directions from startled...

Start geocaching!

I bought this unit to use primarily to go geocaching (see www.geocaching.com for information). Geocaching is a kind of treasure-hunt meets orientiering game. There are tens of thousands of caches all over the world, and you can find one in pretty much...

Great for geocaching, good price

basemap is pretty much worthless

Good

It's a pretty good little portable GPS I use for fishing and at work. It's good cos you can go do a trip then download all the trip information onto your computer at home to see where you've been. Clever!

It's a neat little package that is splashproof and obviouslyvery portable. I've used it heaps of times and it seems really accurate (within 5 metres or so). It gives you heaps of options and functions such as MOB etc.

You have to manually input everything. It doesn't save your waypoint without you inputting the details. Makes for slowgoing when you are fishing or boating.
