Magellan RoadMate 1424

The Magellan RoadMate 1424 is one of Magellan's most popular 4.3” models, thanks to a bargain basement price. Despite the fact that this is an entry-level unit, it comes with preloaded maps of the entire US and Canada, as well as Magellan's popular...

Gets me from A to B

Very decent unit. I think everyone should just consider selling your old unit once it hits the 1-2 year mark while it has some value and just replace. I can't really see the point in paying for updates when you can "trade up" for about the same or...

I had a choice, spend $60 on upgrading my old unit, or spend $64.99 on this unit (on sale). Good choice. Nice thin design compared to my other unit, good solid suction to the windshield

For the price, none

Works as expected

I have had a Magellan GPS for several years now and have been quite pleased with the performance. It has a tendancy to lag on occation off of the start but it gets me where I need to go. The only problem was that My son was always borowing it so I...

Useless Junk

Stay far away from the 4.3inch magellan models. The touchscreen on the lasts only until it's past warranty and then dies. No touchscreen means no controls. Just a paperweight now.

Great Value and Easy to Use

This is my third Magellan RoadMate between my car and my wife's car. They have all worked great right out of the box; extrememly easy to use; and right on target. Love them!

What I expected

This is exactly what I expected and arrived in good time. One blemish is that the sound is staticky, but we can still understand it.

Great

Really good, much better of a menu than a TOMTOM

Distances are not perfectly accurate, maps need to be updated. Tried to go to a "sushi boat" ended up at a "sushi train

Not A Garman!

I have been using my Uncle's cheap-O' 3.5" Garman GPS for a few weeks now, and it is superior to this unit as far as I'm concerned. Way more accurate and alot easier to use. Should Of Bought A Garman!

For basic use it's O.K., nice size screen, comes with needed accessories, can't beat the price

It's not as accurate as I expected... I have been testing this unit for two days now, and I have missed two turns, or arrival locations so far because this unit is too slow to react in complex road situations. Not good enough for what I need

Magellan Maps and Routes

Other than the critique above, I'm now happier with the device. My only wish would be to be able to program my route inside without having to go outside so it can find satellites. And to be able to use my computer to route rather than back and forth...

Magellan RoadMates are thin and easy to use. Although I have a 1470, I have used it to navigate in Florida where night time driving is difficult due to non-reflective signs way off the road. Once you download the user-manual, you'll have a much better...

You NEED the User Manual but there is no reference to it in the manual supplied with the device. For 2 years I struggled and was ready to toss it. Then I thought there must be a manual. Downloaded it and voila, I now don't go through all sorts of funny...
