Tomtom Go 720

The most frequent complaint I receive about GPS devices from readers is that it's difficult, if not impossible, to update a GPS product's maps. There's no doubt that for the two map data providers, Navteq and Tele Atlas, keeping maps and POIs (points...

4.3-inch widescreen. Text to speech. Multisegment routing. Map Share community-based map and POI updates. Nimble-feeling menu. Good MP3 player

Limited cell-phone support. TomTom Plus services are not compatible with Sprint or Verizon

The TomTom GO 720 boasts a host of premium GPS features at a pretty good price. It's especially nice if you've got a phone with a data plan on AT&T/Cingular or T-Mobile that supports the GO 720's extra abilities.

TomTom GO 720 review: TomTom GO 720

Portable navigation systems are a dime a dozen these days. A lot of the models offer many of the same functions, such as text- and voice-guided turn-by-turn directions and millions of points of interest, and they're all beginning to look alike with...

The TomTom GO 720 includes new features that give you access to up-to-date maps and safety information in case of emergencies. The sleek 720 also offers text-to-speech functionality, integrated Bluetooth, and multimedia capabilities.

The GO 720 is only compatible with a small number of Bluetooth-enabled phones, and there are no external volume controls.

The TomTom GO 720 delivers with sleek looks, good performance, and a full set of features that includes a map-sharing function for the most up-to-date maps and a helpful safety tool.

TomTom GO 720 Portable Car Navigation System Review

If you haven't checked out the latest portable GPS offerings, you are missing out. In the last couple of years, the technology has really reached a saturation point that has brought in-car

Big, bright touchscreen ; Accurate maps ; Great software for updates & add-ons

A few small interface quirks, such as canceling a route

I had a great experience with the TomTom GO720. It takes about 2 hours to fully charge the internal battery, and on our full day of travel, we easily got 6-8 hours of continuous use before having to use the car adapter. The software is multi-platform...

TomTom GO 720

Solid high-end feature set with some fun extras., TomTom MapShare and HOME software / online link help keep maps current., Options such as an iPod connect cable and a remote control.

Do you want or need a photo viewer in your GPS? Probably not.

The TomTom GO 720 resides between the top-of-the-line GO 920 and 920T, and the more basic ONE XLS . The ONE XLS is a fine choice, but if you want higher end features such as a customizable status bar (six variables, such as remaining time, remaining...

TomTom GO 720 GPS Review

GPS units are becoming very popular with drivers who commute on a daily basis. We've been testing the TomTom GO 720 unit over the past month and it's an excellent choice. Here's what we had to say.

Large 4.3" touchscreen ; Bluetooth connectivity ; Multimedia playback functionality ; Built-in FM transmitter ; TomTom Map Share technology allows users to update maps

No external volume control ; Some services cost extra ; All services don't work with all mobile phones

Overall, the TomTom GO 720 is a great alternative to the Magellan Maestro 4040 we reviewed in July of 2007. It is $50 cheaper at $449.95 and has better battery life but it has the media playback capabilites that the Magellan doesn't have. The Magellan...
