Beats Studio 2013: Radically better-sounding than the original

Beats' "reimagined" signature headphones are sturdier and lighter, and offer improved sound quality.

The new ; headphones are lighter, sturdier, and better-sounding than the original Studio headphones. They offer a comfortable fit and active noise cancellation, which works well but not great. The noise cancellation is powered by a rechargeable lithium...

Very faint hiss from noise cancellation; if the internal battery dies, the headphones don't work; fairly pricey at $300.

They may not be a bargain at $300, but the new Beats Studio headphones are lighter and better-built, and sound significantly better than the original Beats Studio model.

Beats Studio 2013 review

Ever since Beats by Dr. Dre severed its relationship with Monster , we've been waiting for the company to come out with a new version of its signature headphones , the Beats Studio , which were released in 2008 and became a cultural phenomenon. Now,...

Beats Studio (2013) review

"The original remastered," reads the interior of the Beats Studio (2013) headphones box. That's the sort of statement that might put fear into the hearts (and ears) of fans of The Beatles - just take a look at the waveforms after each album remaster -...

Bassheads will be bowled over by the booming low-end, far better isolation than original model, built-in battery rather than AAAs, battery gauge is an improvement over original model, lightweight fit is comfortable, soft earcups, adjustable and flexi...

Batteries die and it's audio over until charged up again, plastic exterior is a fingerprint magnet, bass-heavy sound won't suit all, audible hiss when quiet, mid-level compression can be harsh to ears, isolation not perfect, pricey considering the...

The latest Beats Studio headphones are a whole heap of cash for what they are - around as much as the heavier Beats Pro - which is their initial shortcoming. And yet Beats has escalated to a design brand as much as an audio brand, which is where we...

Beats by Dre Studio 2013 review

The official line is that these new Studio headphones are “lighter [by 13%], sexier, stronger and more comfortable”. We can vouch for all of that, and would even like to compliment them on how comfy they are. This is an area where on-ear headphones...

The Beats Studio is two things; firstly they are powerful headphones that are great for hip-hop or electronic music, secondly they are a desirable fashion accessory/statement. If that’s what you’re after then these are great - if you’re looking for a...

Beats Studio (2013) review: A question of bass for Dre's new Beats?

Just because this set of Beats has the word 'Studio' in, don't go thinking these are the sort of headphones you could use for production.

The 2013 Beats Studio are a definite step up from the previous generation. In nearly every respect, they are better. The clean lines, comfort and decent design (minus the fingerprints) are all impressive features.

Beats Studio (2013) Headphones Review: So Much Nope

Feel like your music is good enough to let everyone hear it? That's the issue the 2013 Beats Studio headphones are plagued with.

Unless you’re obsessed with the fashion statement these headphones represent or are willing to listen to your music below half-volume forever, these are probably best avoided.

Sexy but expensive

This is way too expensive for the quality. Not comfortable after few hours, heavy, don't work if battery dies, noise cancelling could be better and sound quality is ok but you could find better headsets for less.

pretty disappointing

After reading this review that says it has a very faint hiss from noise cancelling, I thought that a very faint would be ok, but when I bought it and wore it I noticed that it is not faint. It is like you are listening to the waves!?
