Bose Frames 2.0 review: Cool but non-essential

NextPit reviewed the Bose Frames Tenor, a pair of sunglasses that double up as true wireless headphones. What is the sound performance like?

It is super COOL! ; 5.5 hours of battery life ; Good audio quality with clear sound ; Comfortable to wear and lightweight

Design looks a bit cheap for the price ; Proprietary charging cable is impractical ; Unergonomic controls ; Limited to IPX2 certification ; Extreme lack of bass ; Expensive price

If you've read my review, you may have the impression that I was rather too harsh on this pair of audio glasses without appreciating them. Well, think again. I simply wanted to give you the most balanced points of view possible. The Bose Frames Tenor...

Bose Frames review: Look better than they sound

I've always been really interested in fun products — even if the product isn't remotely practical or "good" in the traditional sense. Sometimes a

Cool design ; These things don't look anything like conventional earbuds and that's what makes them interesting ; Fun factor ; The Bose Frames have an enjoyment factor that I haven't experienced with many other devices. ; Spy Games ; You feel like...

Bose Frames keep UV rays away, while sending airy musical tones straight into your ear canals.

The glasses are light, comfortable to wear, and act as a discreet sound source for music, video and phone calls.

The sound is too slim to replace good earplugs. Battery life is limited and the shades cannot be used while charging.

Bose Frames are the first sunglasses with built-in sound, and are definitely a concept we like. In terms of sound, Frames is no substitute for proper headphones or earbuds with hi-fi sound reproduction, and the usability could have been even better....

Bose Frames review

Sunny business

Decent enough sound ; Comfortable ; Clean, low-key design ; AR has loads of potential ; Great for podcast listening

Lack of bass means songs lack thump ; Not many apps to download ; Average battery life ; Not cheap

They might sound gimmicky, but the Frames really work, and could be a big hit on the beach this summer.
