Etymotic mc3

Etymotic tweaks its signature flat frequency response slightly, and offers up its first pair of low-cost, high-fidelity earphones.

Near-flat response. Nice price given excellent sound quality. Integrated iPhone controls. Several fit options. Customizable (for an extra cost).

Not for deep-bass lovers. Some cable thump. Controls are awkwardly placed on cable.

Etymotic Research mc3 review

Aimed at smartphone users the Etymotic mc3s work best when burrowed deep in the ear

Supreme detail and pace ; nice build ; mic and remote ; custom mould compatible

Lacks bass weight and depth ; a little bright ; bundled buds won’t work for everyone

Although in some ways ace, the mc3s aren’t balanced enough for five-star glory

Etymotic mc3 headphones review

Nearly two decades ago, Etymotic used its expertise in hearing aids to produce one of the first lines of in-ear-canal headphones, the ER-4 series. The mc3 earphones are its attempt to bring a similar level of performance to the sub-£100 market.

Bassheads should steer clear, but even though we find the lack of bass occasionally frustrating, overall we love the mc3 earphones. Given the mc3s' already great performance, we’d pick the mc3 with custom tips - that extra comfort means we can listen...

Etymotic mc3 earphones review

Ready to ditch the in-ear headphones that came with your phone? Looking for something rather nondescript, balanced and won't totally break the bank? Luckily, Etymotic's got just the earphones for you in the form of the mc3, which promise to give you...

While we've seen plenty of earphones vie for your attention with bright colours and loud sound, it's a breath of fresh air to see something rather toned down. Etymotic's mc3 headphones don't scream out loud with bold looks, as they look rather plain...

For £69, you get some pretty decent quality out of these headphones, but they're not for everyone. If you're the kind of person who prefers a bit more bass out of their headphones, you'll find the mc3 lacking. What's only a really minor annoyance is...

For £69, the Etymotic mc3 headphones are a quality pair that sound a lot more expensive than they suggest, giving you tip-top audio and brilliant noise cancellation and the option of getting custom fit earmoulds too. If you're after something bassier,...

Etymotic MC3

While the Etymotic MC3 headphones have a pleasant design, and a useful in-line remote and mic for use with your smartphone, they weren't quite up to scratch with the Bose MIE2i and Shure 215s: they lack a bit of bass by comparison. Check out our full...
