Grado SR80i earphones sound great, go easy on wallet

The Grado SR80i model is a great pair of budget headphones that offer sparkling sound with tight bass and are best suited to home use.

The ; headphones offer incredibly balanced, hi-fi-quality sound. One of the best models available for under $100.

The design is quite polarizing with a very retro look. The open earcups mean they're not suited to use in noisy environments or places where sound leakage might disturb others. If you own the original SR80 headphones, it's not worth the upgrade.

Grado SR80i Dynamic Headphones Reviewed

Grado is a company well known to audiophiles and products like this one show why. The sound quality is "worth the price tag ($99) and then some" and the sound is "smooth and neutral without the exaggerated bass and treble that some lesser designs are...

The Grado SR80i offers a smooth tonal balance and a natural, musical quality. Not all headphones can say that - especially not $99 ones.•The headphones have excellent stereo imaging and offer an immersive, involving listening experience

The foam earpieces may be uncomfortable to some wearers after long listening periods ; At higher volumes, the open-air design can leak sound to outside listeners ; Other, smaller headphones are more portable and easier to toss into a purse or briefcase...

Grado products are known for their fidelity and faithfulness to themusic, and the SR80i is no exception. It has a smooth, natural tonalbalance with excellent, but not overly exaggerated, bass extension. Thestereo imaging is accurate and immersive and,...

Grado SR80i Headphones

Grado's SR80i headphones offer good sound quality, and consumer testers said they're fairly comfortable to wear. But since they can't be folded, this pair is tough to tote around. Still, they're easy to adjust, letting you slide the headband to the...

Best home on-ears up to £150, Awards 2013. Whatever you play, these Grados will make it sound superb

Beautifully revealing, detailed and musical performance

Open-backed design leaks so much, people might think it's a ringtone

Grado Labs Prestige SR80i review

Grado has upgraded its SR80 headphones to the new "i" moniker and while they may look the same as the SR60i , and many models previous, there is a lot going on behind the scenes that's worth the extra $20 investment.

Consumer review (head-fi.org)

Very well-rounded

The Grado SR80i presents everything very nicely, almost romantic, you can hear everything, until you start comparing. Its not the most detailed, however it is very transparent. Its soundstage is not very large although initially it does seem so. Sounds...

Consumer review (head-fi.org)

Unique "Grado" sound. Flimsy build. Uncomfortable after a while. Very open and natural soundstage.

This is my first experience with the "Grado sound" and I think I know why it's popular with rock lovers. The harsh but somehow lush mid sound strips the processed nature from guitar distortion to give it a live amp sound. These are the most unique...

Very unique mid sound. Great for rock music.

Not very good for bass heavy genres. Flimsy plastic. Non-removable cables.
