Review: Griffin TuneBuds Mobile & SmartTalk

Both have been updated with the same new and improved in-line, noise-canceling microphone, and they're compatible with the iPhone, iPod nano 4G, iPod touch 2G and iPod classic 120GB.

TuneBuds Mobile ($39.99) is a good alternative to the iPhone and iPod’s bundled headphones and headsets, but only for those who don't mind earbud-style headphones. It doubles nicely as a noise filter. SmartTalk ($19.99), on the other hand, is an...

Griffin Tune Bud Headphones

The Tune Buds stayed put, and the shape of the bud offers noise-canceling isolation to keep you fully tuned to your music. The long cord annoyed some testers, who got tangled it in while exercising. Includes three different sizes of earpieces....

Griffin TuneBuds mobile

Decent sound and easy call handling

Audio quality, comfort, ControlMic button

Cable near connector does look worn after a few days use, treble lacks clarity

Audiophiles won’t be impressed, but many other people will be happy with these convenient and versatile headphones for the iPhone.

Griffin TuneBud review: Griffin TuneBud

Griffin TuneBud

The Griffin TuneBuds Color offer a cute, colorful style to match the iPod, and bass response is impressive. The earphones are inexpensive and block out some ambient noise.

The earbud housing of the Griffin TuneBuds Color is plastic and feels cheap, and the cable doesn't seem that durable. Music is lacking a bit in warmth, and the high end sounds too sharp in some songs.

The Griffin TuneBuds Color are well-suited for iPod-owners on a budget who want ultraportable earphones to match their player. Bass addicts only need apply.

Decent

For a budget set of IEM's these are great phones. Certainly have their cons, but its hard to complain. Also, to the reviewer who wrote "Junk!", This is a typical experience for any set of in ear monitors/canal phones such as these that are not properly...

These aren't particularly wonderful headphones, but for the price its hard to complain. Good quality and nice response, bass is surprinsingly powerful and the sound is very clear

Cable noise, probably not suitable for jogging. Doesn't ruin the sound/overpower it but it is unusually persistant compared to other phones

Spectacular for the price!

I have a Music Theory degree and have an acute sense of sound. Music is my life, I do agree with other reviewers that the bass response isn't as heavy as some other mainstream brands, but IMO they were perfectly balanced. Excellent lows at low volume,...

Excellent piece of sound engineering! Fit comfortably in my ear. Sound reproduction is very accurate. Cord is long enough but not too long. Fabric covered cord is a nice touch, makes it easy to untangle. Call quality was as expected, crisp, clear, and...

I have encountered a few nuances with the buds ; When pushing them into the ear I occasionally get a crackling noise (like rustling a plastic bag). I know I am pushing in too hard and bending the plastic film on the drivers, but "meh", pretty mute...

Great for Iphone, less so for ipod

Great if you have an iphone, but not for someone with just an ipod.... i would say look somewhere else if you need more than a good handsfree

Very well made, great mic, has controls for music on the cable, earbuds dont hurt your ears after long uses

Music controls are difficult to use (require multiple presses of a single button), music quality is awful
