Review: Harman Kardon AE In-Ear Headphones

Harman Kardon's new headphones have aluminum-alloy bodies that match the look and texture of Apple's hardware. They're pretty, but the sound isn't.

Sleek, pretty and austere. All aluminum and black plastic — if you want some headphones to match your iPhone 5, look no further. Comfortable fit from both rubber tips and the Comply foam tips. Lots of bass from the 9-millimeter drivers

Sound is dark. Not enough detail in the high-end. Too heavy to wear while exercising. Expensive

Harman Kardon AE

The $150 Harman Kardon AE is a sensible antidote to the current earphone trend of overly boosted bass and treble.

Quality audio performance with healthy bass response. Built-in iPhone controls and three-button remote. Excellent carrying case.

Remote buttons are not well defined. Thin cable is somewhat rigid.
