Review: Monster Beats Solo

Monster aims and succeeds at catering to a wider range of listeners.

Deep bass with good high-range response ; Solid build quality, including cables ; Comfortable, adjustable fit ; In-line remote and mic for iPhones and iPods

Still expensive for some ; Mic quality strictly average

build quality, design and functionalityThe Solo set may be less ambitious than the original, but there's little doubt that much of the attention to detail has carried over. The audio cable isn't the anti-tangle ribbon design we've seen before, b

Review: Monster's Beats Solo HD Keeps the Music Pumpin'

I had the pleasure of reviewing the Monster Beats by Dre headphones back in 2008 and was excited when Monster recently sent me a pair of Beats Solo HD ($230) over-ear headphones to check out. Truth be told, I'm already a Monster fan (with a pair of

Monster Beats by Dr Dre Solo HD review

This latest addition to the fashionable Beats by Dr Dre brand proves to be just as covetable, although we think they could be more detailed

Robust and shiny ; assertive, spacious and balanced sound

Could be more solid and detailed with bass

These Beats cans are covetable enough, but massively flawed

Beats Solo HD headphones

The Beats by Dr Dre Solo HD headphones offer plenty of bass, convenient control and great styling, but are offset by too tight a grip on the head and a strange lack of higher tones.

Beautiful design. Useful iPod etc inline control. Capable of high output level.

Sound biased towards bass. Tiring to wear due to pressure on ears.

You don't get any more "street wear" than these Beats Audio cans, but great build and design don't mask a disappointing sound.

Monster Beats Solo by Dr Dre

The Beats Solo by Dr Dre Headphones from Monster offer a killer, travel-friendly design that's sure to turn heads, but the audio quality fails to live up to the price tag.

Stylish, compact and durable design ; Good for on-the-go use ; Nice cable with integrated mic, iPod controls and volume rocker ; Bass is thumping ; Includes carrying case

May not be comfortable for everyone ; Audio is muddy overall ; Leak a fair bit of sound

Monster iBeats by Dr Dre review

Recently we reviewed the Beats Pro headphones -- monster cans from, er, Monster that rattled our eyeballs clean out of our skulls. They were huge, and cost over £300. Happily, those looking to permanently impair their hearing also have the choice of...

Great design;. Keep their cool at high volumes;. Decent sound quality.

Not the clearest sound around;. Liable to dislodge in your ears.

They look great and, while the sound quality doesn't blow our minds, the Monster iBeats by Dr Dre would make an ideal upgrade from the default headphones that accompany new iPurchases.

Dre Dre Beats Solo HD review

So O2 are going to be stocking the Beats Solo HD headphones very soon (along with rest of their range) and, as I have been using these headphones for the past 4 months now I thought I would share some opinions of the headphones themselves. The...

This is a great product range and one that is highly regarded in the music industry and celebrity land. I am very pleased that O2 have the exclusivity on this range of headphones as it is great to see networks feature some decent kit for a change.

Decent Quality

There are a couple of minor quirks. 1. They don't get very loud really. 2. The wire for the headphones can be seen inside the headpiece which can lead to issues if you aren't careful. Otherwise, pretty good headphones and a decent price for them.
