Philips SHE9850 In-ear Headphones

Philips's affordable SHE9850 earphones fit well and offer decent low-end response.

Affordable. Commendable low-end performance. Excellent fit.

Not the crispest treble response.

Philips SHE9850

Well-balanced mid-range IEMs

Clear sweet highs, great detail, wide soundstage

Bass a little uncontrolled, short cord

Philips' SHE9850 headphones are another strong entry into the mid-range IEM space. Their bass could be a little punchier and more controlled, but for the price these IEMs offer a clear, smooth and well-balanced sound.

Philips SHE9850 Noise Isolating Earphones

Klipsch recently gave Shure's SE420's a run for their money. Now Philips is here to do the same thing to the SE310's.

As Riyad observed when he compared the Shure SE420's and the Klipsch Custom-3's, if you leave pricing out of the equation then the choice is all about how you prefer to listen to your music. Shure, with the SE310's, has the edge when it comes to...

There's better at this kind of money

Good detail in the presentation, good build, comfortable

Painfully trebly, sound is brittle and grinds after a short period

Philips SHE9850 sound-isolating earphones

An excellent all-rounder, with good detail, a balanced, warm sound and superb comfort and fit. Deeper bass and brighter treble exists in competing models, but for almost all genres of music and in most listening environments, the SHE9850s will impress...

General sound quality ; Warm tone ; Great comfort ; Good sound isolation ; Snug and secure ; Suitable for gym use

Lack of deep bass ; Less inspiring treble performance

If you want deep, ultra-low bass for dance music, check out Denon's AH-C551s and Sennheiser's CX 95s. If that sparkling treble and brightness is your poison, consult Etymotic's ER-6is. But for almost all types of music, the SHE9850s get a thumbs up...

Philips SHE-9850 review: Philips SHE-9850

Philips SHE-9850

The Philips SHE-9850 offer solid sound quality, a sleek design, a comfortable fit, and handy extras.

The Philips SHE-9850's bass response is mushy at times.

The Philips SHE-9850 In-Ear Headphones are an excellent choice for style-conscious listeners who demand comfort and detailed audio response.

solid foray into mid-level in-ear headphones

After skillfully managing to lose my last decent pair of headphones (Sennheiser CX 300), I considered buying an exact replacement, but for no particular reason other than variety, I ended up shopping around for a different pair.  Around the time I was...

Good audio range with excellent build quality and fit to justify the price point
