This might be one of the shortest reviews I ever write, because of how uncomplicated its conclusion is. The Sennheiser HD 800 S is a sterling, wonderful pair of headphones that strikes a...
As detailed as headphones can get ; Expansive soundstage ; Light for their size ; Sennheiser doesn't compromise fun in the pursuit of accuracy
Enormous ; Require high-power amplifier ; Zero sound isolation ; Not for bassheads

The Sennheiser HD 800 S are excellent sounding headphones for critical listening. They're comfortable and have a sturdy, durable build quality but like most open back critical listening models, they're not very versatile. They're not designed for...
Excellent audio reproduction. ; Sturdy, durable build quality. ; Comfortable design.
Designed to be used in a well-isolated room. ; Sensitive to ambient noise, by design. ; Bulky and heavy.

Reviewed the 75th anniversary edition of Sennheiser HD 800 S, delivering exceptional details, treble clarity and immersive sound staging.
I have always preferred my headphones to deliver exceptional clarity with good bass intensity without obscuring midrange. However, it’s often a compromise because bright treble usually results in listening fatigue with bouts of sibilance. I am usually...

The Sennheiser HD 800 S are the company's most expensive headphones you can buy off the shelf. No, we haven't forgotten about the £30,000 Sennheisers Orpheus HE1060, which cost a "small" fortune, but they can't be found on the high street.
In the HD 800 S, Sennheiser has tamed the HD 800 to create one of the best set of headphones ever.

You may remember in August of last year, we published an article looking at three 'entry level audio Got a lot of cash to spend on some new audio gear? We look at the HD 800 S and HDV 820
Beautifully detailed treble that is not at all sharp or sibilant.
It is £1399.99.
It is not a cheap headphone/amp combo by any means – but the HD 800 S paired with the HDV 820 makes for an absolutely incredible sonic experience.

We have all wondered why audiophiles spend a sizable chunk of their wages on a good set of headphones; you ask yourself if headphones for that much amount of dosh can really be that good. Sennheiser's flagship HD 800S is here to show us that what you...
If I had to sum up the Sennheiser HD 800S I would use the word ‘immense’, these truly are a pair of mind-boggling amazing pair of headphones, and arguably the best out there.

On the HD800 S, the background is darker, the vocals have a bit more body and the top-end has some of the sharp edges smoothed out.

Incredibly detailed.
Easy to drive with almost any amplifier, but correct partnering will unlock their full capabilites.
The Sennheiser HD800 S is an update to one of the most iconic headphones released in the last decade. £1,199 is a lot of money, but compared to some of the ‘flagship’ competition they seem almost bargain basement.
