Sennheiser HD555 review

Sleek, comfortable, and durable, Sennheiser's Euro-styled HD555 headphones weigh a mere 9.2 ounces and feel luxurious. They exerted minimal pressure on our ears, which allowed us to forget at times that we were even wearing them--a big compliment for...

Sleek styling; very comfortable; rich tonal balance; well suited for home theater.

Open-backed design may not be ideal for private listening; so-so music performance.

The HD555s' speakerlike sound is the hot ticket for DVD thrill seekers.

Sennheiser HD 555 Headphones Review - Intro

The HD 555 headphones hail from Sennheiser's lineup of over-ear home theater solutions. They have open backs, which will provide a more natural, airy aural experience. This quality also means people in the same room will also get an earfull, however....

The design is simple, but still looks good. The long cord can easily span the distance between the couch and your home theater setup. ; Good performance in frequency response and distortion.; Comfortable to wear, partially thanks to the cloth-covered...

The design might seem plasticky. The top and bottom halves of the band don't have much tolerence for bending; the place where the cup meets the band is a bit fragile.; They don't provide very good noise cancellation, and have high leakage.; These...

The Sennheiser HD 555 headphones are clearly meant for a home theater environment. While they fit this role well, they are unfortunately limited to it. These headphones aren't a good choice if you're looking for something you can also commute with....

Sennheiser HD 555

The Sennheiser HD 555 is a real classic that's been on the market for many years. At present it may no longer be the cream of the crop in its price class, but for the right price this is a very good entry-level "audiophile" headset that you'll be...

Sennheiser HD 555 Headphones

A great headphone for the home theater

The open-backed design of these headphones provide more comfort, and lightness on the ears. Sound effects from movies sound more like they are coming from speakers, which makes them more realistic

Some mp3 players may find it too hard to pump any volume into these headphones. The closed-back style of the headphones leaks the sound to the outside

Headphones designed primarily to be used to listen to movie audio with, the Sennheiser HD 555s are a great addition to the collection of any ardent movie fan who wants to watch movies in private while getting the best sound possible. The open-backed...

Sennheiser HD 555

The HD 555 headphones are part of Sennheiser's home theater line. They have an open-back design, which is great for creating a more open-sounding sound, but terrible from concealing your taste in music from those around you; a lot of the sound from the...

Sennheiser HD 555

A scientific, in-depth analysis with side-by-side comparisons

In their native environment — a home theater setup — these headphones should fare a lot better. Sound quality should be good, and distortion should be minimal, even at high volumes. The long cord allows you to easily hook up to your stereo system...

Sennheiser HD555

Introduction When I picked up mynew mouse I also picked up some new headphones for myself. I thought I should squeeze them into a review also. I got a pair of Sennheiser HD555 which are very popular headphones, this is so because you get them for a...

Comfortable ; Excellent sound ; Well packed ; Changable parts ; Good price ; Long cord

None this far

I think I said most of what I had to say during the testing phase but I can conclude this with saying that I doubt there are any better headphones for under 150$USD out there on the market right now. You get superb sound with this even if you just use...

Sennheiser HD 555 headphones

I've mentioned Sennheiser's HD 555 headphones in passing on previous occasions, but I've only now gotten around to reviewing them. That's because only now has it become possible to actually buy the darn things again

For this money, I doubt you can buy a better headphone anywhere. Highly recommended
