Shure E review:

It's no secret that the white earbuds that ship with the Apple iPod are pretty lackluster headphones. In fact, the market for replacement 'phones has become a contentious battleground in the nascent "iPod economy," with even Apple competitors such as...

Excellent sound quality; earpluglike design blocks environmental noise; thick, durable cable design; includes full assortment of accessories.

Some people find in-ear headphones uncomfortable.

Shure's E4c earbuds are simply the best in-ear headphones we've ever heard.

Shure E4c

The Shure E4c headset is an upgraded version of the popular E3c, with better bass response and more sensitivity.

As for sound reproduction, the E4c's are flat through the midrange and have a nicely extended high end, as good as that of the Sennheiser HD 280 Pros, but they're unconvincing in the bass. They are, however, more responsive to bass boost than the E3c's...

Shure E4c Sound Isolating Earphones

If any pair of iPod-styled headphones is going to win you over on aesthetics in 2005, Shure's E4c Sound Isolating Earphones ($299.00 MSRP) would be the ones. Positioned directly in-between the company's $499 MSRP E5cs and its $199 E3cs, the E4cs are a...

Highly attractive in-ear canalphones with impressive highs and clean midrange, fantastic fit kit for various ears, and solid build qualiy from cords to earpieces. Includes great zipper case and other accessories for non-iPod devices. A solid step up...

Though touted as offering extended bass response, low-end performance is unimpressive by comparison with comparably priced competitors. Long cable isn't as good a match for iPod users as for others

Now the shure e4c are great in combination with the Ipod 5G. The Bass-problem is completely solved. This combination is now better than the ER-4/Ipod combination

If you have a decent equalizer on your media player, then this is probably the best choice you can make. If you don't however, you may find the bass comes up lacking.
