Shure SE425 review: Shure SE425

Shure SE425

The Shure SE425 earphones provide fantastic audio quality and a durable design. The package includes useful extras such as a case, a quarter-inch adapter, and the Shure Fit Kit.

The Shure SE425 earphones will not fit all users comfortably, and they take some effort to put on. Shure has eliminated its modular cable design.

The Shure SE425 sound-isolating earphones are an excellent choice for eclectic listeners who demand stellar audio and a high-quality design.

Shure SE425

Shure's latest earphone pair, the SE425, is aimed at audiophiles in terms of both price and performance.

High quality, flat-response audio performance. Detachable cable can be replaced, rather buying a new pair of earphones.

Fit can be tricky to secure at first. Not for bass lovers.

Shure SE425 Sound Isolating Earphones HEADPHONES

The Shure SE425 are well-built and durable in-ear headphones. They have an ear hook design that makes them a decent option for sports and they easily fit into your pockets. They're also a bit more comfortable than typical in-ears. Unfortunately, they...

Minimal leakage. ; Durable build quality. ; Stable and portable design.

Mediocre-at-best sound quality. ; No controls.

Shure SE425 Sound Isolating Earphones

For $299, this reviewer found that the sound and build quality from the SE425's makes it right for the price. These earphones are at a fair price point for what they offer. The minor cable twisting and anemic low end puts these at a 4/5, but of course...

Shure SE425

Detachable cables may be the major upgrade for the SE425s over their predecessors, but they don't just rely on gimmicks to impress.

Robustly built ; Replaceable parts ; Sound great

Fairly expensive ; Bulky cable

The SE425s may not be the best sounding earphones in Shure's line-up, but they're almost certainly the best value. The audio quality offered by the dual-driver design is nothing short of astounding, and coupled with the excellent build quality, makes...

Shure SE425 review

Can the Shure SE425 buck the trend by performing far better than they look?

Noise isolation ; Replaceable parts

Dull design ; Awkward fit

Best in-ear headphones £100-£300, Awards 2016. Could do with a bit more bass, but they really are the finest in-ears we've ever heard at this price

Energetic ; Solid midrange performance ; Immersive sound

Does not pack quite as much bass as some competitiors

Fantastic sound and noise isolation

I finally broke my Shure E3C earbuds after almost seven years of faithful service. I crazy glued the stem back onto the earbud and the buds still work, but I felt nervous about the stem breaking again and getting stuck in my ear. So I decided to get a...

Bass and treble response; secure fit; awesome sound isolation. Strong warranty. Almost audiophile performance (but not quite).

Foam sleeves hard to remove. Proper insert is a two-hand task.
