Sony MDR-1R

 

The Sony MDR-1R is a powerful, clean-performing pair of headphones that's comfortable to wear and lends itself well to multiple genres of music.

Solid audio performance with strong bass, crisp highs, and no distortion at top volumes. Extremely comfortable. Comes with two detachable cables, one with inline microphone and remote control.

No included headphone jack adapters.

At $300, the Sony MDR-1R delivers powerful audio with focus on overall balance. It could use a bit more high-mid presence, and bass lovers will wish there was more low-end boosting, but the sound signature comes close to the audiophile ideal of flat...

The Sony MDR-1R's excellent sound quality and light convenient styling make them one of the best bass headphones on the market.

The on-ear design doesn't lend itself to heavy bass presentation, and the soft carrying case doesn't quite provide adequate protection.
