Performance

Panasonic SC-HT40

The Panasonic SC-HT40 is a name-brand home-theater-in-a-box system that you can get for a rock-bottom price of $200 or less. It offers sweet-sounding satellite speakers, a powerful compact subwoofer, and easy connections for portable music players and...

As expected at this price, the features list is bare-bones: You'll need to supply the DVD player (it's not included), its connectivity options are sparse, and there's no onscreen display during setup.

Considering its bargain-basement price, Panasonic's SC-HT40 home theater in a box is an outstanding value.

Its well worth it

probably don't want to get this if you have a few game consoles and other devices in your home theater setup. Perfect for a (satellite/cable) reciever and a DVD player though.

I got this primarily for my HDTV cable box supplied from charter. I was afraid of messing up my expensive hdtv by using the cheesy built in speakers. Also figured there was'nt a point in burning a load of cash on an HDTV and to settle for the 20watt...

Panasonic SC-HT40 Theater System

Excellent sound quality and bass, stylish, available wireless rear transceiver

Overlapping inputs limit ease of use, menus are difficult to navigate

For the price, it'd be hard to beat

INTRODUCTION: A few months ago I spent a day going around to Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Target, and Circuit City looking for home theater systems that didn't have DVD players built in. At Circuit City they had this system on sale for $169, so I spoke with an ...

Panasonic SC-HT40

I've had one of these for about a year and it's great... when it's functional! After about 6 or 7 months it blew a capacitor which I was told is somewhat common with these units. Now a few months after having it repaired it's showing signs of another...

Easy to use and in my opinion good connectivity. Good remote. Sounds fine for TV and PS3

Explodes apparently! And has a hiss to it. It also gets very hot which may be related to the capacitor issues
