Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Desktop

We all know that manufacturers typically focus on making their ‘hero' devices as glamourous as possible, but Microsoft's decided to spread the love, sprinkling some stardust on its Bluetooth keyboard and mouse set.

Excellent build quality and design ; Good battery life ; Keyboard includes number pad ; Windows, OS X and Android

Small mouse ; Limited features

A gorgeous and brilliantly-made mouse and keyboard, but limited in terms of features.

Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Desktop keyboard and mouse review

Looking for a classy way to upgrade your desktop? Meet Microsoft's Designer Bluetooth Desktop combo, a wireless keyboard and mouse that looks sleek, slick and incredibly thin. Microsoft's hardware design chops are usually on point, but have they...

Microsoft's Designer Keyboard and Mouse is handily summed up by it's product name: it infers it's a chic piece of kit that puts style over substance, but luckily, Microsoft hasn't skimped on either. The slim, low-profile keyboard and mouse both look...

While we're big fans of the keyboard, we're not too fond of the mouse, even though its ambidextrous design works well for both lefties and righties. While performance is good due to Microsoft’s BlueTrack sensor, it's not the most ergonomic mouse out...

At £99.99, Microsoft's Designer Bluetooth Desktop feels like a high price to pay, but you do get a top notch keyboard and mouse that not only look good but perform well, and you won't be needing to swap out the batteries for a long while. Throw in...

Small Keyboard and mouse

I would not recommend this product, and keep this in mind. I am being charged almost $20 to return it.

Bluetooth

Mouse is too flat. Keyboard is about the size of a keyboard on a laptop

Close but no cigar

After years of Microsoft success in developing mouse technology, I expected this product to be close to perfection. It is not. Fix the scroll wheel and it would be a great travel partner. As I have experienced the one I received, it is next to useless...

Small, connected with no difficulty, light, good travel size.

The scroll wheel is so tight that my finger slides over the top without the wheel turning. Considerable pressure must be applied in order to get the traction necessary for the wheel to turn. This results in two problems: First, scrolling and...

Avoid this mouse.

Don't buy this if you have a Dell XPS 15 with Windows 10. Your wireless chipset (it handles both wi-fi and bluetooth) is probably a Dell 17xx or 18xx (mine's a Dell 1830). It won't play nice with this mouse with current drivers (as of January 2016)....

- Comfortable - Well built - Doesn't eat batteries like popcorn - Magnetic battery door is a nice touch

- Has difficulty pairing with certain BT chipsets, especially the ones used in Dell laptops - Has horrible lag problems with certain BT chipsets, like the ones in Dell laptops.

Can't Recommend

I bought this mouse in part because of the claimed battery life of up to 6 months. I suppose 3 weeks would be included in up to 6 months. But when I called the support number, the not-particularly-English-speaking person I finally reached said they do...

Works OK when it works

Ridiculous short battery life, No support from MS

Simple, elegant design

I would recommend it to anyone who wanted a simple, elegant keyboard mouse set for a computer with bluetooth built-in and for whom replaceable batteries are acceptable. Probably an especially good choice as an alternative to Apple keyboards on a newish...

The design is simple and elegant. The mouse is somewhat flat. The keyboard is full-size, but pretty small for a keyboard in that category-- not at all bulky as some are. This is a Bluetooth 4.0 product and so uses a low-power protocol enabled in 4.0....

The keyboard is not backlit, which some rechargeable bluetooth keyboards are. This keyboard has replaceable batteries. This is a Bluetooth 4.0 product. There's no bluetooth dongle included. Most recent Windows computers can probably handle it, but some...

Good feeling mouse

I will keep you informed on the BT sleep issue if it ends up being the mouse's fault.

Compact design, slips right in my backpack and doesn't take much room ; Lightweight and glides easily, feels and looks good ; Fixed an issue I was having with the Microsoft Sculpt Bluetooth mouse where every so often the mouse would freeze for 5-10...

Don't know if this is the mouse's fault or my Dell Latitude E6530, but when inactive it will stop working, has been crashing the entire Bluetooth module within my laptop which means I have to disable/enable Bluetooth in Device Manager to get things to...

4 egg due to battery cover design.

Low profile for carrying with Surface tablets. Buttons are solid. Wheel is a little stiff initially. Kind of get used to it

Magnetic battery cover does not hold the batteries in place during transport. The batteries are too heavy and always push the cover opened
