Philips SPK8614

A mechanical keyboard for $40 might seem worth a second look by nature, but the Philips SPK8614, with its step-down, home-brewed switches and limited lighting and shortcut creation, impresses only on price.

Inexpensive for a mechanical-switch keyboard. Bundled magnetic wrist rest.

Keys don't feel as snappy as, say, a Cherry-switch board. Limited lighting options. Lighting configuration is a hassle. No macros or key remapping.

Bottom Line: A mechanical keyboard for $40 might seem worth a second look by nature, but the Philips SPK8614, with its step-down, home-brewed switches and limited lighting and shortcut creation, impresses only on price.
