1st & Best Laptop I Ever Owned

I would certainly rather have had Windows XP Pro instead of Windows 7!!! And I wish I had known that you do NOT get full programs, and that you have to pay extra to actually use the programs tha they tell you come with the computer, but that isn't...

Love this laptop!!! Use it most every day. I fell in love with it from the moment I saw the specs!!! It has my favorite AMD triple-core processor-Phenom II-in it; a 500gig hard drive, 4 gig of RAM, a webcam, a media card reader, and a CD/DVD...

Hmmm.... What would I change??? I would put the media card reader on the side or the back and I would add at least 3 more USB ports. While the media card reader is a minor issue, NOT having enough USB ports is a real pain in the rump!!! Other than that...

Acer AS5552-5898

I have read that Acer has had a problem with some panels being cut out. That might be what is causing the overheating.

It was a nice price and the laptop has worked well except for one thing

HEAT ; This laptop overheats a lot. Any activity more taxing that browsing will overheat this sucker ; I have tried 3 different cooling pads with no luck ; This is basically a netbook

Great Choice For Kids at a Low Price

Don't expect gaming performance or something you can develope software on. Its good for the price.

For under $400 this is a great laptop that will easily handle the demands of web surfing, and playing flash games, writing documents, spreadsheets, etc

USB ports are too close to the front and on the sides of the laptop. Your USB stuff plugs in right next to where usuers typically use their mouse. Right angle USB cables would help. There aren't any USB ports on the back ; Although I hate all laptop...

The Price Went Up!

As you'll notice I dont have that little green check mark saying I bought it here at Newegg. That is because I found an unbelievable $359.99 deal at a local electronics store. Granted I paid tax but still cheaper and I got a 640gb hard drive with mine....

For the specs vs price, its a great value. Even though since it came back in stock less than 24 hours ago, the price went up $40 ; Phenom IIx4 CPU ; Decent GPU considering its shared memory ; Good RAM specs and can be upgraded to 1333Mhz 8Gb ; Great...

A couple minor complaints considering price vs specs ; Price went up $40 since last in stock ; Smallish hard drive (read other thoughts) ; Non LED screen ; 5200 rpm HD ; One egg off for raising the price ; Bloatware and plenty of it. Format, Format,...

Specs Lie Disapointed

Wish I could get it replaced but there isn't anything wrong with the laptop, the specs were just wrong although I think the model number is correct. I am not sure what the issue is. I normally love newegg but I am disappointed this time.

Quad Core Cpu at 2.2ghz ; HDMI out ; Decent screen

The specs lie I got a different type of pc. The model still says 5552-7677 but the chipset is only 785gx and the ati is only 4200 instead of 4250. It's amazing the difference you can get between the 4200 and the 4250. I really like the 880g chipset...

A Solid Notebook

I know what I get into so it's not a con really. It's not the fastest notebook out there but it's a good buy. I plan to get 4 more GB of RAM to max it out to see what happens.

I paid $399.99 for it now it's $389.99. This thing works. The machine is overall quiet and nice. Keyboard is kind of nice not great and so it's the screen. And yeah, it runs smooth but not screaming fast. One RAM slot left to put another 4GB of...

It's not an i7 or a 7200rpm HD, no separate graphics card. But I knew it. So it's not a con. Everything is a compromise

GREAT VALUE (on non-value) laptop!

I've never been a big fan of laptops. They cost more, are slower, less reliable, and more costly to maintain than desktops. If you don't REALLY need the functionality of mobility, I always go with desktops. We recently had the desire to watch a music...

Crazy low price on sale shipped for $390 for quad-core CPU with HDMI out. I consider the value laptop category to be dual-core, often without HDMI out, so that's why I do not call this a value category laptop. No, it isn't going to be a crazy gaming...

The touchpad thing is a little odd, but there might be some settings to adjust it. It is minor and I can't even take off an egg for it ; I do not love 5400rpm hard drives. It will be replaced with an SSD in the near future

Wow-That's What She Said

She's happy. Priceless.

This computer is fast. It worked out of the box. I haven't had to help spouse to fix anything. Keeps her busy. :)

I bought it 'on sale' for $399 and came back here just two days later just to see another $10 knocked off the price. Any 30 day price guarantee? Better do more reading maybe. Or not

Quality at a disposable price

This is a great computer for anyone not rendering some big graphics or 3D parts. For probably 95% of people this is a 100% buy.

Best specs you can get for this price. Catch it on sale and it's even better. If you try to save $50 you end up with half the specs

The only down of this computer is it's not quite as responsive as one would think from a computer having these specs, but I'm pretty sure it's because of the 5400 rpm drive. I but a drive upgrade would really wake this thing up
