Acer Aspire 8940G-6865

Blu-ray plus 18.4" 1080p display ; Good price for quad core plus Nvidia GTS 250M GPU

Off-axis image quality mediocre ; More than ten pounds

Decent gaming performance and terrific graphics make this an intriguing choice for gamers, if you can get past its bulk and its short battery life.

Acer Aspire AS8940-6865

Big screen media center laptops are a dying a breed. Mobile users would rather take on the lightest laptop than have something that's confined to their desks, permanently. But for a select group of 3D gamers, video editors, photographers, and home...

Affordable Media Center. Edge-to-edge glass screen. Gorgeous 18.4-inch widescreen. 1080p resolution. DisplayPort and HDMI. Core i7 processor delivers. Very good gaming scores. Backlit keyboard. Blu-ray included

Ugly on the outside. Small battery

The Acer Aspire AS8940-6865 has the performance and feature goods, delivered to you at an affordable price.

Other than the Keyboard problem, there is nothing wrong with this laptop. Easily out performs the others that people in my platoon have bought to try and show me up. HAHA.....now if it wasn't for that busted keyboard...!

Excellent computer. It will do what you want, and then some. Screen is massive, back lit keys are amazing

Less than 24 hours after I received it the number 2 3 4 letter E D C the F2 F3 F4 and the ` keys all died on it. I removed the keyboard to make sure it was connected properly, performed all the troubleshooting procedures and still nothing. It wouldn't...

Great computer, horrible hard drive

Overall, seems to be a very nice computer with an excellent screen and layout. However, the hard failed on the first day. I called Acer customer support (an actual phone number with an actual person who answered within 1 minute). They determined that...

Happy =D

I'm not going to lie. This laptop is catered to the Power User. If you are planning to use it for everyday browsing, chatting, youtube and facebooking than there are better solutions out there. With that said, if you are seeking a devilishly good...

1. Very aesthetically pleasing (My girlfriend thought it was a laptop from the future and possibly the illegitimate child of "KIT" the knight rider car.) - Media controls and indicator lights are very nice (great color scheme/function) ; 2. KEYBOARD!!!...

1. Bottom left runs hot. - I've noticed that almost all Acer's run hot there. This is perplexing but the core i7 chipset is known to run hot. I tried to remedy this by using a laptop cooler (NZXT makes a good one that accommodates an 18.4" laptop) . My...

Best bang for the buck at this time

Updating the video drivers to any of the latest nvidia releases prevents Arcade deluxe from playing blu-ray discs because they're not WHQL certified right now. This is annoying as hell and needs to be addressed.

Excellent high res screen. Do you know how hard it is to find a gaming laptop that has a 17' or larger screen that's above 1440x900 these days ; Dual drive bays. Hopefully a BIOS update will add RAID ; Blu-ray at this price. Bonus ; Backlit keyboard....

Like most of the others, the missing bluetooth while actually having the physical control for it on the keyboard and the drivers pre installed is stupid. There's no excuse for it to be absent from a laptop such as this ; Touchpad buttons are a bit...
