Acer Aspire 9500 review: Acer Aspire 9500

Acer Aspire 9500

Comparatively low price; built-in TV tuner; 17-inch wide-screen display; ability to play audio and video without booting up; slot-loading, double-layer DVD burner; wide range of connections; solid performance.

Limited tech-support hours; somewhat low screen resolution.

The fully equipped, multimedia-minded Acer Aspire 9500 gives pricey, entertainment-focused desktop replacements a serious run for their money.

Acer Aspire AS9504WSMi

Turn your home office into your home's digital entertainment center with the latest Media Center PC from Acer.

Built-in TV tuner. Excellent screen. Assorted A/V connections. PC Card "phone." Very good performance.

Poor battery life. Heavy.

Acer Aspire AS9504WSMi Review

A fine Media Center notebook with impressive features and performance is held back by awkward keyboard and speakers.

Includes a DVI port

Keyboard can be frustrating

My other beefs are with the stereo speakers--which lack a subwoofer and distort a bit at high volume (something resonates inside the case)--and with the lack of a docking station. None of these failings are deal breakers alone; put them all together,...

Acer Aspire 9504WSMi

Great all round processing

Lacking a little graphics power

We couldn't find a weak point - and believe us, we put the Acer through its paces. With a WorldBench score of 90, it'll breeze through most tasks. If you're looking for something powerful with great entertainment potential then look no further than the...

Acer Aspire 9504WSMi

Acer's 9504 is a one-stop-shop entertainment centre. Is it good enough to make it the centre of your digital world?

Above the keyboard is the 17in widescreen display. This is a good size and the resolution of 1,440 x 900 means that the icons don’t appear too small. However, it does mean that there's not enough resolution to display true 1080p HD content. That said...

Acer Aspire 9504WSMi notebook

Acer continue to release more notebooks than anyone else, making them one of the obvious choices for most people. What's more, they are sold in most major computer stores so you can check them out before you buy.

Powerful, will replace your desktop

Not designed to be that portable

This notebook really should be rated as a “Hot Product” and had it not been for the variable quality of the keyboard it would have been. It has power and style for most mainstream users and Acer has done a great job at getting a good spec at a...

Acer Aspire 9504WSMi

We've seen a few notebooks geared towards home entertainment over the past few months but none so fully featured as the Aspire 9504WSMi from Acer. Okay, it may not have the fastest processor or the best graphics card, but it does have a hybrid TV tuner.

Acer Aspire 9504

Acer's Aspire 9504 incorporates a lot of empowering technology, although its chief TV offering is rather weak.

Widescreen 17\" display ; Full keyboard ; Integrated dual TV tuners ; Media centre functionality ; 256MB PCI Express X700 Graphics

Mobile TV reception poor ; Touchpad is unresponsive ; Touchpad sits in an odd position

The Acer Arcade software is competent enough, and the included miniature antennae that Acer provides is easy enough to install -- there's even a clip to attach it to the top of the display. In our testing in far north Sydney with the external antennae...
