Acer Aspire ES1-111-C56A Netbook Review

Little companion. Netbooks still have a purpose. A small, light, and portable Windows device does not have to be expensive. But what can the buyer expect for a price below 250 Euros (~$310)?

Absolutely noiseless, Matte screen, Light and compact, Low price

Wobbly keyboard, Low data capacity

Acer's Aspire ES1-111 will certainly serve anyone looking for a lightweight, small, affordable, and quiet office or browsing machine well. Windows 8 runs reliably and smoothly on the little companion. It is still well equipped for Internet and desktop...

The Best Cheap Laptop Under $250

Another long-lasting little laptop, the E 11 ran for 7.5 hours on our battery rundown test. Too bad it's so sluggish—the keyboard and touchpad are quite good and the screen's even brighter and more colorful than the Acer E 15.

Touchpad makes this unusable

The rating is so low because my wife needs this touchpad because she can't bring a mouse everywhere, so the touchpad is essential to her usage of it. If you are planning to mouse a mouse nearly all the time, then you can think of my rating as 4 eggs...

It's a pretty great laptop for ~$250. Does what you need, it's x86 so all your apps work, it's light, holds a charge well, and can watch youtube/netflix

The touchpad. It's INFURIATING to use. It didn't work almost at all directly out of the box. I had to find a driver not really advertised on acer's website to get it to somewhat work (plus update the BIOS). Now though, it's only a little better. After...

Great Little Machine for the Right Uses

This works great for me, partly because I deliberately wanted a machine that wasn't powerful enough to run distracting applications like games. Office works great and it makes for a wonderful distraction-free writing experience.

There's another version of this laptop that I also tried, the one with a smaller hard drive, and unfortunately that one just didn't work out because I needed more space than I thought once Office was installed ; This one, though, is perfect for my...

The track pad can sometimes go insane, jumping the cursor around or selecting things that I don't want to select...but that could be my own clumsiness

Needs SSD

Good laptop, especially for the price. Thin, decent battery (4 hours of use average, more if just surfing.)I'm used to very fast booting from SSD so I think I will swap the 500gb HDD for a smaller SSD and use external storage for other files. Space bar...
