Cute top-seller. Acer's little 11-inch convertible features a new Braswell CPU and a 360-degree hinge. However, contrary to the manufacturer's touting, the Aspire R11 is not a jack of all trades.

The Acer Aspire R11 is aiming to bring a lot while keeping costs down. Can a convertible, touchscreen laptop costing under $400 really deliver in real world use?

Solid battery life. Touchscreen. Converts into various modes. Good speakers. Low Price. Well built.

Disappointing performance. Poor display. Inconsistent and buggy experience.

Acer Aspire R11 convertible Windows notebook review

Convertible laptops used to be expensive. These days companies including , , , and all have notebooks that can transform into tablets with price tags around $400 or lower.

The Acer Aspire R11 makes a decent little low-cost, portable laptop with a fanless design, and it offers performance that’s a little better than most systems you would have been able to find a year ago in this price range.

Acer had to cut quite a few corners with the Aspire R11. The poor screen with a TN panel is the major gripe, but the mushy keyboard, heavy body and high-case temperatures are some of the other nits that you have to be aware of.

The Acer Aspire R11 multi-form laptop benefits from being that bit bigger than something like the older Acer Switch 10. It's much more comfortable to use for a good few hours of typing, browsing, or whatever needs doing.
