Acer TravelMate 4400 Review (pics, specs)

The Acer TravelMate 4400 series notebook is a thin and light notebook, designed for the person seeking desktop power in a portable package. It encompasses many features that a desktop has, including a variety of ports, a large screen and hard drive,...

Acer TravelMate 4401LMi

An Acer TravelMate provides us with our first glimpse at AMD's Pentium M rivalling Turion 64 CPU. Also equipped with a Radeon X700 and a 15in display is this the bargain it seems?

The Acer 4401LMi is as we’ve grown accustomed to from Acer, a well put together notebook with a decent amount of connectivity. The X700 makes for a solid gaming machine, and the Turion processor impresses with its speed, but not with its battery...

Despite low performance, the Acer is capable enough

Keyboard ; Price ; Competent performer

Burns hot ; Limited mobility ; Weight

The Acer TravelMate 4401LCi does well as a laptop for the business person which is all to be expected at this price point

Acer TravelMate 4401LCi

Acer continue to be one of the fastest selling notebook manufacturers in Europe, with most of this reputation based around their cost-effective business machines. It's hard to complain about a machine that costs as little as £550 (inc. VAT) but you...

Cheap, good battery life

Basic spec, slow to load

The Acer TravelMate 4401LCi offers reasonable performance and if your needs are limited you won't be too worried about the specification. However, at this increasingly aggressive price point, Acer may well find this notebook doesn't quite live up to...

Acer TravelMate 4401LMi

Twelve months ago you'd have been hard pushed to find a notebook that offered anything like good all-round performance for less than a grand. Today, they are commonplace and have little to differentiate themselves other than price.

Great value, excellent performance

Plain to look at

It may look a little plain and come with a less than impressive screen but if you're in the market for a fast and reliable notebook that won't break the bank, Acer has put together a great little machine in the TravelMate 4401Lmi, as its battery life...

Acer TravelMate 4401LMi

It's not for us to say whether Intel is guilty of underhand tactics in its battle with AMD over the consumer CPU market - that will be decided in a court of law. What is now clear, though, is that AMD does have a chip capable of challenging the Pentium...

A decent desktop replacement at a good price, the TravelMate 4401LMi is slightly let down by the lack of a DVD writer and a poor screen. It's a sturdy, well-built notebook but we expected a little more from the Turion processor.
