Advent Altro review

Advent's ultraportable takes aim at the MacBook Air

Good price for the type of machine ; Great usability and mobility

Very little in the way of features ; Performance limited by size

A good choice for those wanting more mobile power than a netbook

Advent Altro notebook

Apple's MacBook Air features one of the most impressive form factors we've seen to date, but its price tag puts it out of range for most people. Advent is hoping to take advantage of this with its Altro, offering a spookily similar design for just...

Incredibly thin, light and portable, good value for money

Lack of ports, flimsy build quality, performance is lacking

Although the Advent Altro can’t match the MacBook Air for quality or desirability, it does a pretty good job of imitating Apple’s finest. It’s incredibly thin, and it offers a decent blend of portability and usability. The comfortable, responsive...

Advent Altro review

As with most products from Dixon Stores Group house-brand Advent Computers, the Altro is a rebadge of a laptop sold elsewhere in the world under different names. In the case of the Altro, it's actually designed in Italy by one of the country's largest...

That sub-£600 price tag will be enough to close the deal for cost-sensitive buyers, but be aware that compared to its innovative inspiration, the Altro is slow and underpowered, heavier, thicker and gives only around half the battery life. Unlike those...

Advent Altro I723

I love my altro, its sleek and lightweight. It has great additions to it, fingerprint security, harddrive and file protection and simple to setup and use. It's very much a 'girly' laptop, drops in my handbag and gets lots of attention. a great...

Battery life is poor, it states 4 hours, I have never got 4 hours 3 maybe at a push; and when on power saver refuses to connect to network. I was concerned when getting a refurbished laptop, but I have never had any technical problems.

the large screen is good, everything looks clearer, with everything such as web cam built in there is no need for extra add on's. the multi card readers work well and come in handy for inserting camera cards and phone cards alike to retrive...

the blur tooth is a bit hit and miss, and so far i havent been able to get on with this feature, although the battery life is ok, perhaps a little longer life would be more than welcome.
